Engraved and chased sterling silver with oxidized design, featuring two thunderbird heads in profile, mirrored from the centre line, with a blackened circle below the centre line. Blackened areas in main design elements; cross-hatching in background. The bracelet is wider at centre, narrowing somewhat toward the rounded ends. Artist inscription on back.

Woman with Labret3260/111

Portrait mask. Mask is painted blue with large black eyebrows and black eye outlines. The eyes are carved out as circles; the nostrils are painted red; the mouth is slightly open and carved through with a rectangular opening, the lips are painted red. Below the lower lip is an inlay of abalone as the labret. On the back are four holes with a hide strap attached at each side. Artist’s inscription on back: RD 75.

Bentwood Bowl3260/128

Bentwood grease bowl, with curved sides and carved ends. On the front of the bowl a human figure appears from behind a bear’s head: head and arms above the bear’s eyebrows, feet emerging from under the bear’s mouth. The claws are represented on the opposite end of the bowl alongside another human figure with its face turned upward. Operculum shells are inlaid in the bear’s mouth as teeth. The surface has been coated in grease.

Bentwood Box3260/80 a-b

Bentwood box with painted black and red designs. Box is almost square with three steamed corners. The fourth corner and the bottom panel are nailed. All four sides are painted. The designs cover the upper 3/4 of each side, with a thick red line painted all around the box, below the designs. The lid is made of two pieces of planked wood.

Bentwood Box3260/79 a-b

Red cedar bentwood box (part a) with lid (part b). The box has three bentwood corners, curved and rounded, with pegs at the fourth corner. The lid has rounded edges, and is slightly thicker than the base. The front and back have circular paintings, with a different design inside each. Both have a red scalloped (U-forms) design around the entire outer edge of the circle. The ends of the box have simpler ovoid style designs. Designs are painted using mineral-based pigments.

Walking stick (or cane) carved, with abalone inlay. The handle has been shaped in the form of an animal’s head with a small, crouching human emerging from its jaws. Inset abalone eyes. Wrapped around the shaft are low relief carvings of bird and sea-creature imagery on the upper section; the lower section is plain.
