Harpoon HeadNa1132

Harpoon head with bevelled sides, edges constrict slightly at centre; curves to tip with end slot for blade. Small hole runs through tip at right angle to slot. Rounded triangular hole below centre with channel running below to steeply angled end on one side. Mottled brown to yellow-brown. Lighter and more degraded towards tip.

Blubber HookNa1131

Degraded hook in isosceles triangle shape; one edge is flat; two opposite edges meet at a wide angle. Four holes along shortest side. Incised band of two lines with short lines at right angles run across hook on both sides at widest point. One side is relatively smooth and rounded, opposite convex side is rough. Thickly coated in varnish or resin.

Line Drag HandleNa1129

Part of a composite line drag handle in the shape of a mitten with the thumb pulled in parallel to rounded and inwardly curving finger section. Round hole runs through from front to back at the centre base of the mitten. A semi-circular hole runs from the bottom surface connecting with round hole. Two smaller holes on either side of semi-circle. Parallel lines run around the circumference of the bottom of the mitten with a series of small perpendicular lines extending up from both lines. On the centre of the convex outer surface is a raised vertical band with parallel dotted lines on either side.

Plain. Bow drill and mouthpiece. The antler drill (part a) is cylindrical and tapered to a rounded point at the bottom end and has a long point at the opposite end. The bone piece (part b) is that of a caribou foot. The bone bow (part c) is a curved piece and a loose band of skin across and knotted through a hole at each end of the curved piece.
