The Fifty-Three Post Stations of the Tokaido HighwayN2.1139

Print depicting a group of women working to one side of the print. There are a group of buildings in the background. A large and tall tree stands in the middle of the field. Print of Fujieda Station (#22). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: “ MINAKUCHI The sketch is ordinary. However we see that the style of houses has changed from Yedo to Kansai style." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

Print of a female figure sitting on the floor, with a screen in the background. The print is the left half of a pair; it would be shown with N2.1167 on the right side. Together show a scene of three figures, with a large screen in the background. This part shows a woman sitting on the floor with her head bent slightly toward the floor. Her left arm is extended; she holds a flower with a bell in her left hand. She is wearing a kimono with a black star-shaped print on a blue, beige, and grey striped pattern. In the lower right corner there is a circular red seal, an oval black seal, black characters, and a vertically rectangular black seal. The print is made of two vertically rectangular pieces, creating a horizontally rectangular image overall.

Tall, narrow flask with triangular spout at rim. Surface is glazed turquoise and is undecorated; interior is glazed beige; base is unglazed. Part b is a lid that fits into neck and rests on rim; a knob protrudes from the centre. The top is glazed and the underside is not.

Round, shallow dish decorated in red, black, and gold triangular segments that swirl slightly around centre. Decoration is on both interior and exterior. Inside of raised foot ring is glazed white with blue band around edge and blue mark in the centre.
