Lacquered bowl with black exterior and dark grey-brown interior that fades to black at rim. Bottom of base has rim. Inscription on label on underside of base.

Print depicting a group of people crossing an arched bridge. There is a cluster of buildings in the distance. Blue mountains are part of the background. Print of Okazaki Station (#38). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: “ OKAZAKI The castle of the Tokugawas at Okazaki. This is the scene of the famous meeting between Toyotomi Hideyoshi, in his boyhood, and Hachisuga Koroku. Tradition says that Hideyoshi hid under straw-matting on the bridge waiting for some great person worthy to be his master. Hachisuga, a wandering Samaurai, passed and kicked him. After a tussle, Hideyoshi became his follower." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

The blue leggings are widest at the waist with beige edging around one side and long beige ties with blue stitching. The pant legs are narrow and made from several pieces sewn together with overall vertical stitching. The inside is unlined.

Indigo dyed cloth with varied woven stripes throughout. Long raw edge folded under.

Dark blue kimono with thin striping. The neck and centre opening are edged with a wide band. The sleeves are short with hanging panels and an opening under the arms. The upper lining is natural coloured fabric.

Woven to form a basket weir with a removable bottom. Top is rounded with an opening. Bottom has larger material weave than top.

Bamboo section hollowed out. Vertical split down side leading to cracks on base. Sticker on base: "Made in Japan". Sticker on side with characters.

Pair of black leggings (part a-b). The legging is long and curved with an opening at the top. Beside the opening is sewn a rectangular piece, larger at the bottom and stuffed with paper.

Plate in the shape of a vegetable-like tuber(?) that has a leaf with scalloped edges at the top. Overall colour is a deep red with black coloured accents and shading. There is a patch near the bottom of the plate that has cross-hatching in the centre.

Rectangular textile of a cream background and a depiction of a landscape. The image consists of green, yellow and orange hills in the bottom proper right corner; a blue, navy and grey mountain in the middle right; yellow, orange and green leaves attached to brown branches in the centre left. On the proper bottom right is the name Karuizawa in blue.
