Painted underglaze with dark grey-blue landforms from which spring floral motifs; enamelled overglaze with motif outlines in iron red and gold which is worn and dull; centred beneath spout, a circle enclosing the initial s, slightly off vertical; spout gold with red outline. Paper label reads "Marchant, London."

Izumo ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). A small globular form on a flat spirally cut unglazed base showing fine light grey body. Thin translucent extremely shiny brown glaze, dark at the lip, with a broad splash of pale green-white flowing down the side, where the glaze stops in an even line short of the base.

Wooden, angular figure of a horse with mane and tail made of dried grass plugged into two holes at mane and one at tail; a saddle is on its back. The horse is allover white with painted decoration of floral motif at chest; blue and gold decoration at saddle; red bridle on head; pink with silver decoration on rear; red wavy decoration on hind legs.

Satsuma ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). Cylinder slightly incurved to flat unglazed string cut base displaying red-brown body. Matte, brown-flecked green glaze, of an orange peel consistency, pools to dark brown on the flat shoulder then ends short of the base in streaks and thick pools of green and yellow-white.

Water dropper in the shape of a rabbit. Hole in back and at mouth. Decoration is incised; overall glazed rust red.

Round porcelain dish on high round foot, decorated with an underglaze blue comb pattern; glazed base; slightly thickened sides support a flat red-brown rim. Inside: painted in blue underglaze with two broad horizontal bands of wave motifs, separated by a narrow band of white; broad white band below second wave band. Superimposed in overglazed enamels on the bottom band of wave motif is an open camellia, white tinged with red, and a red bud, all supported by green and yellow edged leaves and blue buds on a blue stem. Centred above on the wave bands is an upright blue stem with three green leaves and a blue bud. Outside patterned with four ribboned wealth motifs in underglaze blue.

Underglaze blue. Two blue borders with red and gold sections every 90 degrees; in between blue bands is a red band with red and gold arabesques and shaped panels of green and blue. Circular landscape panel in the centre. Unmarked.
