Stylized dog with a bottom (part a) and a top (part b). Its head is on its right side and facing forward. Face is white with black hair and curly tendrils. The neck is adorned with a twisted gold-coloured rope decorated with an alternating pattern of three blue, and of three red dots outlined with white and tied at the back. The tail curls inward. Decorated with green, brown, blue, red, and white landscape scenes, cranes, and fans on a gold-coloured background.

One male and one female standing figure on a platform (part d) on a boat (part a). Both are painted with black, and white, however the male is also painted blue, and green while the female is also painted red, pink, and blue. Sail (part b) has character meaning "precious", and it is leaning on the mast (part c) There is a purple tassel on each side of the curved sail, and an orange tassel at the front. Sides of the boat are painted blue, red, black, and white.

House with garden. The main house has a thatch roof with a dark log on top which has longitudinal sticks attached by four black vertical string ropes. There is a smaller side house to the left of the main house. To the right of the main house there is a tree with a fence in front. Another tree is in the opposite corner. A smaller tree is in front of the tree to the right of the main house. There is a long fence with an opening at the front.

Miniature RackN2.902 a-b

Miniature clothing rack (part b) and shelf cabinet (zushidana; 厨子棚) (part a). Gold circular designs on dark brown wood; brass-bound edges decorate both pieces. The shelving cabinet has three levels below the table top: an open shelf, above middle and lower levels that both have open and closed door sections, on opposite sides. The doors on the middle level have a human figure decoration on the inside. Doors on the lower level have an animal decoration on the inside. The sides have circular cut-outs. The clothing rack (part b) has three horizontal bars, one at the top, which extends past the side bars; one in the middle, and the lower piece which is part of the base that has curved feet at each end.

Writing desk (part a) and storage boxes (parts b-m). Writing desk has a long flat rectangular surface which flares upward and outward at each end, and two legs. Each box has gold circular designs on dark brown with orange tassels dangling from a metal ring at either sides. Each box has a tray inside and a lid on top. The boxes fit together as follows: parts b, f and g together; parts c, h, and i together; parts, d, j, and k together; and parts e, l, and m together.

The Fifty-Three Post Stations of the Tokaido HighwayN2.1240

Print depicting a groups of people near a large building. There are trees next to the building, mountains in the background and two figures with straw(?) packs on their backs walking away from the building. Print of the Ishibe Station (#51). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: “ ISHIBE A small station on the Kusatsu line which connects the Kansai main-line and the Tokaido Line. It is noted for its scenery, especially for the view of Lake Biwa." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

A printed inscription on the cover page reads: “ TSUCHIYAMA Going from Seki, over Suzuka Pass, through Sakanoshita and over another pass again, one reaches Tsuchiyama and Minakuchi. Nowadays, this route is particularly beautiful during the maple season." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: " FUJIEDA Though this print has no special feature, it does portray old customs. People and commodities were carried on men's shoulders and horseback. An agency at every station supplied a new relay of man or horse-power, perhaps the original of the present express company." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.
