Ancestor Figure2815/18

Standing male ancestor figure, carved out of wood. The large head is pointed in back, topped with a flat, decorated hat, and sits on a long neck carved with a regular pattern of rectangles. The figure’s arms are bent and the hands attach to the body at the hips. Four fingers are carved into the right hand. A narrow chest tops a protruding stomach at front, while buttocks are carved prominently at rear. The legs are short and stocky. The right foot is a rounded block with the carved toes; the left foot is half the size of the right, due to missing portions. The figure wears a carved belt.

Ancestor Figure2815/19

Standing female ancestor figure, carved out of wood, red in colour. The face has large eyes, a narrow nose, and a small mouth. On top of the head is a pointed projection. The figure’s neck is very long and thick and is carved with a semi-regular pattern of rectangles. The arms are topped with pointed shoulders, and hands are attached to the hips. The figure is pregnant, shown by a sharp protrusion of the belly. Legs are short and stocky, ending in large blocky feet. A thick milky coating has been applied to the lower outside portion of the feet.
