Toy2814/35

Toy made of a light, hollow gourd that is shaped like a light bulb. A wooden stick goes through the gourd and comes out the bottom to form a handle. Resin is used to glue the stick to the base and top of the gourd. There is a circular hole in the centre of the gourd.

Snuff Tube2814/31

Egret bone tube that is y-shaped with two balls of resin on the tips of the bone and holes in the tops. Resin also near the base, where the two pieces of bone split off. Two prongs are tied with cumare string.

Nokoro Spirit Mask2814/3

Long, rectangular, brown mask. The sack-like mask is made of tree bark stitched along either side. The top of the mask folds over behind the head and has a dark brown fringe made of bark strips which cascades down the back like hair. Two eyeholes are made at the bottom of the mask, below the face. The face of the mask is a large oval made of dried black resin, painted with white and yellow features and geometric patterns. There is a concentric circle in the centre of the forehead, semi-circles lining the sides of the face, and a triangle mouth. The face has protruding triangular nose and eyebrows made of balsa wood.

Blowgun2814/58

Blowgun with long, hollow, cylindrical palm wood shaft. A second, smaller hollow tube of wood has been inserted fully into the bottom end. Two circles of plant fibre are wrapped around the shaft near the bottom. Shaft is circled by ever-closer naturally occurring growth rings from top to bottom. At top is a flared wooden mouthpiece attached with resin and a thin circle of plant fibre.

Blowgun2814/55

Blowgun with long, cylindrical, hollow shaft. Shaft is circled by ever-closer naturally occurring growth rings from top to bottom. Close to the shaft’s top is a rounded protrusion of resin holding 2 thin strips of wood ? orange and white in colour. The hollow mouthpiece is carved of a red tinted wood and flares toward the top. It is attached to the shaft with resin. A thin ring of fibre is attached to the shaft at the centre bottom with resin. A second round hollow tube has been inserted into the end of the blowgun.

Blowgun with long cylindrical wooden shaft. Shaft tapers slightly towards the base and is completely wrapped in thin strips of palm bark. A thick circle of plant fibre is wrapped around the shaft nearer the top. A hollow mouth piece, flared at both ends, is attached to the top of the shaft with resin.

Dart Quiver2814/46 a-t

Dark brown wooden dart holder (part a), with 19 darts (parts b-t). Quiver is long and cylindrical and narrows slightly towards the base. Made of palm wood, with resin around the base. String is tied around the rim and attaches to a lid woven in a zig zag pattern. There is a circular wooden bead attached to the string. Inside the quiver there is a bundle of sticks wrapped in twine to hold the darts in place. Each dart is composed of a thin wooden stick with cotton tied to the tips with a thin piece of string.
