Manioc Basket2814/18

Round, shallow basket with a loose, open weave, made of very thin strips of palm. Around the braided rim are two bent pieces of vine that are held on by strips of plant fibre.

Bureru Spirit Mask2814/15 a-c

Long tubular mask made of balsa wood. Mask is a long hollow cylinder with ears or wings (parts b & c) protruding from holes at its sides. It is decorated with black and brown geometric patterns composed of triangles and squares. The face is a brown circle with oval eyes, semi-circle cheeks, a carved mouth and protruding eyebrows and nose. Ears are circular and are decorated with a starburst design on one side.

Termite Spirit Mask2814/10

Long, rectangular, brown mask. The sack-like mask is made of tree bark stitched along either side. The top of the mask folds over behind the head. Two eyeholes are made at the bottom of the mask, below the face. The face of the mask is a large diamond made of dried black resin, painted with white and yellow concentric diamond shapes.

Nokoro Spirit Mask2814/7

Long, rectangular, brown mask. The sack-like mask is made of tree bark stitched along either side. The top of the mask folds over behind the head. Two eyeholes are made at the bottom of the mask, below the face. The face of the mask is a large oval made of dried black resin, painted with white and yellow features and geometric patterns. The mouth is a triangle; there is a vertical diamond pattern on the forehead, horizontal lines on the nose, and square patterns on the cheeks. The face has protruding triangular nose and eyebrows made of balsa wood.

Nokoro Spirit Mask2814/2

The mouth is a triangle, the cheeks and forehead have semi-circles and there are horizontal lines on the eyebrows. The face has protruding triangular nose and eyebrows made of balsa wood.
