Set of four hair pin-like objects made from ivory. Parts a and b each have a small, roughly rectangular ivory piece with black characters on it near the top of the pick set at a right angle to the shaft; part b is also capped by a circular ivory piece. Parts c and d each have a small pink shell affixed near the top of the pick and black calligraphy on the shaft.
Elongated, black lacquered wooden box lined with silk and paper. The inside of the lid is painted with a polychrome image of a bird, flowers, and a rock. Top of the lid is painted with golden flowers and birds. The bottom half of the box is fitted with a cut-out to accommodate a fan.
A pair of books. The covers consist of an abstract design with flower, diamond, and leaf shapes on gold silk. The pages are blank, and open in an accordian style.
White silk folding hand fan with bamboo ribs and dangling orange tassels. Blue accents, a kabuki actor, and black Japanese characters are painted on one side of the fan.
Thin, round mirror with a flat, rectangular handle, all cast from a single piece of bronze. The front is polished while the back features raised dots and characters in relief.
Three red lacquer shallow, footed, sake cups known as sakazuki (盃), each with an image in gold, metallic brown, and black. Part a is the largest and has an image of a man riding on top of a cart of barrels being pulled by a bull; part b is slightly smaller with an image of a person with their hand on a goat's head, superimposed on rice straws with objects below them; part c is the smallest cup with an image of two figures holding a gold Japanese character, sun (寸) and another figure on a ladder that leads up to a large gold Japanese character, kotobuki (寿). The two large cups have a signature, 美信画 (Yoshinobu-ga; picture by Yoshinobu).
Sash with a pattern featuring a crane, rocks, pines, and prunus trees in gold, grey, reddish-brown and white on a black ground. One end is finished with bands of gold, light grey and black.

The box contains a small square platform (part c), a larger rectangular platform (part d), a round stool (part e), a silver painted bowl (part f), a solid cylinder with green, black, and red designs (part g), a red floral bowl (part h), a bowl with a solid green stripe (part i), a yellow and green striped bowl (part j), and a dark pink bowl (part k). Objects sit inside the box and are separated by a cardboard grid (part l).
