The bird's head is in profile facing downward along the lower portion of the upper end of the handle. Bird has a circle in tapering oval in ovoid eye with a curved beak. Four pinched rectangular designs incised in decreasing size down along the lower portion of the handle from the beak. Has a two-feathered side wing and a four-feathered tail. Word 'SKAGWAY" is scratched on the back of the bowl.

Spoon carved from one piece of black mountain goat horn with a tapering handle that is carved with a humanoid face at the base, which is surmounted by two animal heads. There is what appears to be a natural hole in the bowl of the spoon to one side.

While the wider end is solid, there are two hollows through the smaller end where there are two taper cut semi-oval holes on opposite sides.
