A pencil drawing on a yellow bookmark. The drawing and the paper are vertically oriented. On the front-side of the bookmark, a human skull, drawn in light grey pencil, is the central image. The skull has large round eye cavities, tall and narrow triangular nasal cavities, and two teeth attached to the upper jaw. A large dark grey dorsal fin extends outward from the top of the skull; the interior of the fin is decorated with an unshaded tower-shape and a dark grey circle. Protruding from the cheeks of the skull are two fins, both outlined in dark grey with unshaded yellow interiors. A whale tail extends downwards from the jaw of the skull; the two tail flukes are decorated with unshaded ovals and inverted triangles. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in black ink. At the top is "Che's Pages," below is the store's specialty and an image of an open book. At the bottom of the page is the store's business hours and address. A black rectangular border is printed along the edges of the page.

A drawing on a bookmark. The front-side is a hand-drawn image of a killer whale in black and red ink with traces of pencil outlining the body of the whale. The head of the whale is angled upwards; it is decorated with black ink with the exception of the space between the teeth and the lower jaw which is filled with a red stripe pattern. The whale's blowhole is embellished with two black dots, a red diamond with curling arms and a red horizontal oval, forming an upside-down face? The midsection is decorated with three creatures all with black eyes and teeth, and red mouths. The pectoral flipper is embellished with three creatures; the one closest to the whale's head is drawn upside down in all black ink, the middle and the end creature both have black eyes and teeth but red mouths. The upper portion of the tail is decorated with a human-like face with two eyes drawn in black ink, nostrils and an upper lip in red ink, and rounded teeth outlined in black ink. Black ovals with inner red ovals and two intersecting red lines are drawn in the tips of the whale's tail flukes. The reverse-side is machine-printed. At the top is the bookstore's name, "Acadia Art & Rare Books," and the store's hours. The middle section of the bookmark lists the store's specialities in black ink; the names of famous artists are printed in the background in grey ink. Commercial information including the store's address, telephone and fax numbers are listed at the very bottom of the bookmark.

A pencil drawing on a light beige bookmark. The front-side of the bookmark is a horizontally oriented, hand-drawn image of a sea lion(?) in profile. The sea lion is outlined in pencil with the interior remaining light beige. The eye is surrounded by a diamond-shaped patch; a wide tower-shape is drawn on the snout between the eye and the nose. The mouth is lined with two canine teeth and rounded molars; to the right of the mouth is a crescent-shape. The front flipper extends from the base of the head to the midsection; two curving lines embellish the flipper. A small oval is drawn towards the hind flipper on the underbelly. The hind flipper is decorated with three interconnected tower-shapes forming grooves on the flipper. The reverse-side of the bookmark is vertically oriented, and is machine-printed in black ink. At the top is the bookstore's name, "Bell's Books;" below, lines of text describe the store's specialties. Extending from the centre to the bottom of the bookmark, is an image of three daisy-like flowers. The bookstore's commercial information is printed at the very bottom.

A pencil drawing on a beige bookmark. The bookmark is vertically oriented. The front-side of the bookmark is a hand-drawn image of an aquatic scene. At the top are two heavily shaded wave-like shapes representing the waterline(?). Above the water is the top section of a boat stern; this section is coloured with light grey pencil, an unshaded band crosses the top right corner of the stern and a unshaded circle is drawn in the top right corner. Below the waterline is the remainder of the stern with a rudder; the stern(?) is shaded in with pencil except for the left edge which has an unshaded border, the rudder is unshaded, and a small unshaded circle is positioned above the rudder. Below is a large harpoon on a frayed rope. The border of the harpoon is unshaded, the interior is coloured light grey, and a polka dot covered shaft protrudes from the centre of the harpoon. Extending from the bottom right corner of the bookmark, and surrounding the harpoon, are long strands of sea kelp. At the very bottom of the drawing is the profile view of a human-like being's head. The human-like being's face is lightly shaded with pencil, the eyebrow ridge is coloured dark grey, and a rope-like headpiece sits atop of the being's hair. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in black ink. At the top, lines of text, describing the benefits and use of sweet grass, are printed. Below, the company name, "Sweet Grass," logo and phone numbers are printed.

A drawing on a bookmark. The front-side of the bookmark is a hand-drawn, vertically oriented image of a killer whale set against a white background. At the top of the bookmark, two small circles are cut from the paper. The killer whale's head is decorated with a green eye patch within which is a red diamond, a red and white ovoid, and the whale's eye. Red teeth line the mouth of the killer whale. The dorsal fin extends from the killer whale's head up towards the left circle cutout; it is decorated with a red and black ovoid, a red arch, and a black and white tower-shape. Air from the killer whale's blowhole, drawn as green dashes, streams in an arch around the dorsal fin to the right edge of the bookmark. Beneath the head, the pectoral fin is decorated with a white oval and a red cross. The body of the whale is a thin black oblong-shape with three white ovals. At the end of the body is the whale's tail outlined in black and decorated with red and black lines and ovals. The reverse-side of the bookmark is a machine printed image of a cartoon horse holding two books. Above the horse are the words "MAKE FRIENDS WITH BOOKS," in orange-red print. The artist appears to have drawn a skull and crossbones on the horse's hat, an eye patch over it's left eye, an anchor on the right arm, and a hook on it's left hoof.

A drawing of a skull on a single-sided piece of paper. The top edge of the paper curves upwards; the right edge of the paper is longer than the left edge. The background of the drawing is decorated with criss-crossing assemblages of purple line patterns in varying thicknesses. In the forefront, a human skull is outlined in purple ink; the interior of the skull is white. The nasal and eye cavities of the skull are filled in with small crisscrossing assemblages of purple line patterns. An underlying dorsal fin extends from the top of the skull; a blowhole is drawn on the left side of the skull. Extending outwards from the upper jaw of the skull are two fins. The left fin is positioned just below the skull and is decorated with two ovoids. The right fin, drawn at the end of an appendage with a line pattern decorating the interior, is embellished by two creatures. The reverse-side of the drawing is blank.

A drawing on an off-white coloured bookmark. The front-side is a hand-drawn image of a killer whale positioned vertically with it's head at the bottom and it's tail at the top of the bookmark. The whale's eye is enclosed by a diamond, and an oval with a crisscross pattern. Air exits from a blowhole. The outline of the whale's body is heavily shaded in with pencil; drawn in the open interior space of the whale's body are two ovals with two intersecting lines and two small creatures. A small dorsal fin is drawn on the whale's lower back. The pectoral fin is decorated with four open circles. The whale's tail is a wide U-shape and is decorated with abstract designs and a crisscross pattern. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in blue ink. The bookstore's logo, comprised of the store's name, "The Book Guild of Portsmouth," an image of sunrays, a building and a sail boat, is at the top of the bookmark. Their commercial information is printed below.

A drawing on an off-white bookmark. The front-side is a horizontally oriented, hand-drawn image of a killer whale in black ink. The whale's head is comprised of an exaggerated eye-shape, and a lower jaw decorated with two stars and one smaller creature with an eye and teeth. Air exits from a blowhole at the back of the whale's head. The body of the whale is decorated with stripe patterns, four stars, and three creatures. The whale's tail is decorated with three small creatures and one star in the bottom tail fluke. A creature with an eye and square teeth is drawn between the two tail flukes. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in brown ink. On the left half is an image of a house surrounded by trees with the text "The Baker House" printed below. The right half of the bookmark lists commercial information including the bookstore's name, "Poor Richards Books Ltd."

A hand-drawn image of four vertically oriented beings: a human woman(?), a thunderbird(?), a serpent-bear being(?), and a fish. The woman, drawn at the very top of the paper, has long hair and is unclothed. Below is a thunderbird with a dash design at the back of the head and around the eye. A branch(?) and an arrow extend outwards from the bird's open mouth towards the human. Underneath the bird is a serpent-bear being(?); the being's mouth is open, it has a snake-like body, and an arm with a claw reaching towards the fish below. At the very bottom of the paper is a diamond shaped fish decorated with stripe patterns. The artist's signature, a "M" with a line through it and a dot on either side, is in the bottom right corner. The reverse-side of the drawing is blank.

A drawing on part of a white ticket from a convocation ceremony. The front-side is a vertically oriented, hand-drawn image of a killer whale and two lightning serpents(?). The outline of the whale is drawn in dark blue ink; the interior of the whale is decorated with light and dark blue shapes. A light blue arrow extends from the whale's mouth. Air, drawn as light blue dashes, exit from the blowhole at the back of the whale's head. Both serpents are drawn in orange ink. One is positioned under the whale's jaw, swimming with the whale, and the other is above the whale's tail swimming away from the whale. A harpoon tip(?), drawn in orange and dark blue ink, is positioned near the underbelly of the whale. On the reverse-side of the ticket, a fish graphic and text is printed in light blue-grey ink on a white background.
