A drawing on a blue-grey coloured bookmark. The front-side of the bookmark is decorated with a killer whale and other creatures with fins, hand-drawn in pencil. The killer whale's head is at the bottom edge of the bookmark with the whale's back extending along the right-side of the bookmark. A blowhole is depicted on the bottom left of the bookmark. A small creature with a dorsal fin, an eye-shape(?), and teeth(?), is drawn between two large fins. The reverse-side of the bookmark displays the bookstore's commercial information in black ink, including the bookstore's name, "Pages on Kensington."

Drawing3223/23

A drawing on part of a ticket from a university convocation ceremony. On the front-side, a decorated whale, hand-drawn in black and blue ink, is vertically positioned with its head at the bottom of the ticket and its tail at the top. The mouth of the whale is beak-like. Air, drawn as blue dashes, exits from a blowhole at the back of the head. A harpoon point on a frayed rope, drawn in orange, is in the whale's mouth. On the reverse-side, part of a fish, its wake and text is machine-printed in light blue-grey ink.

A pencil drawing on an off-white bookmark. The bookmark and the drawing are vertically oriented. The front-side of the bookmark is a hand-drawn image of an abstract human-whale(?) being. The being has a human-like face with a hominid nose and mouth; the eye is exaggerated and is enclosed by a large oval. The teeth are small and triangular. A whale-like dorsal fin, decorated with three arches and a rectangle with an elongated diamond and oval, extends from the head of the being. Beneath the head are two fin-like arms; the one on the right is curved upwards towards the dorsal fin, and the left one is drawn parallel to the bottom edge of the bookmark. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in brown ink. An elaborate border is printed along all four edges of the page. Within an off-white rectangular text box, the bookstore's name, "The Manuscript," and information are printed in brown ink. Below, a white image of a desk with an open book and globe is printed over a brown background. At the very bottom, a quote by Leigh Hunt is printed in white ink.

A pencil drawing of a killer whale on a machine-printed bookmark. Printed at the top, on the front-side of the bookmark, is "Mermaid Tales Bookshop" and the stores logo; a mermaid with a dark grey tail and black hair in a light grey circle. Positioned below in the white space of the bookmark is a hand-drawn image of a killer whale outlined in dark grey pencil. The interior of the whale head is decorated with white and light grey shapes and line designs. Triangular teeth line the upper jaw. A blowhole is drawn at the top of the whale's head; air, depicted as dashes, exits the blowhole and forms a swirl underneath the bookstore's name. Towards the rear of the head is a dorsal fin embellished with a white and dark grey ovoid, a white tower-shape, and a light grey asterisk. Underneath the head is a white oval with an elongated diamond-shape drawn in dark grey pencil. A pectoral fin, decorated with a light grey arch and asterisk, is drawn along the right edge of the bookmark. The upper pectoral fin joint is embellished with a small creature. Printed in black ink below the drawing is the bookstore's commercial information. On the reverse-side of the bookmark, a Chinese proverb and the bookstore's mermaid logo, is printed horizontally on the paper in black and light grey ink.

A drawing on a single-side piece of white paper. The drawing is horizontally oriented. The left edge of the paper is cut at a curve; the top edge is longer than the bottom edge. On the far left-side, a wide "V" is drawn in yellow; a green line borders the inside of the "V," and a brown line is drawn on the right exterior edge of the "V." Extending vertically from the centre of the "V" is a green band filled with criss-crossing assemblages of green lines. Green circles, of various sizes, are drawn horizontally in the interior space of the "V." In the centre of the drawing is a human skull outlined in brown ink; a brown harpoon tip attached to a rope is drawn behind the skull. A green bar filled with a criss-cross pattern is positioned along the bottom edge of the paper; a human-like hand drawn in brown ink grips the top of the bar. On the right-side of the drawing is a yellow "L" shape rotated ninety degrees clockwise; the exterior of the "L" is bordered by a brown line and the interior is bordered by a green line. A wavy green band filled with criss-crossing assemblages of green lines, extends horizontally from the "L" to the right edge of the paper. The reverse-side of the paper is blank.

A horizontally oriented pencil drawing on a beige bookmark. The front-side of the bookmark is a hand-drawn image of five seal-like creatures. The bottom half of the page is decorated with a random pattern of short lines, creating the appearance of water(?). All five creatures have whiskers on their snouts, and large canine teeth. On the far left-side of the page, the head of a seal is drawn beside the tail of another seal. The centre and second from the left creatures are both vertically oriented; a curved double line pattern decorates their bodies, and drawn above the rear flippers is a diamond-shape. The second from the right is drawn upside down; the body is decorated with small open circles extending from the face towards the rear flippers, and the front flippers are embellished with an elongated diamond-shape within an oval. The seal drawn on the far right edge of the page is horizontally oriented; the front flipper is decorated with an elongated diamond-shape within an oval, the body is embellished with a creature inside it, and positioned above the rear flipper is a diamond-shape within an oval. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in black ink. The page is vertically oriented; at the top is an image of a person reading a book and below is a quote from Sara Nelson. The bookstore's commercial information, including the store's name, "Literati Books," is printed at the very bottom of the page.

On the front-side of part a is a poem, written in pencil, in both Nuu-chah-nulth and English. The poem on part a is horizontally oriented. To the right of the poem is the machine-printed descriptive information for the drawing printed on the reverse-side of the poem. On the reverse-side of part a is the left half of a whale print by the artist. The whale is a blue-grey colour. An open, red human-like hand is depicted at the end of the pectoral fin. A being with a yellow eye, red mouth, and grey tongue is positioned in the centre of the whale's body. On the front-side of part b is a story, written in pencil, about a girl singing a tsiikyak and then jumping off of a cliff. The story is written vertically on the paper. The reverse-side of the story is the right half of the whale print. The right half of the whale mirrors the left half (part a) with the exception that the red human-like hand on the right half grips a black raven. Printed in the bottom of part b, near the whale's tail, is the artist's signature and two lines of text.

A series of pencil drawings on a white bookmark. The front-side of the bookmark is a compilation of several drawings, all horizontally oriented. The background is coloured a light grey. Drawn extending outward from the left edge of the bookmark is a dark grey tower-shape surrounded by an arch with a dotted outline. Beneath and to the right of the arch shape is an inverted creature. Directly to the right of the arch is a carrying pole(?) with a segment of whale flesh with the dorsal fin still attached; a crescent is drawn on the flesh. A rope with six feathers(?) is draped over the dorsal fin. Above the carrying pole is a frayed rope with a harpoon attached to its left end. Four side-by-side fishing lures(?) are drawn extending from the top edge of the right half of the bookmark. Underneath them a seal-like feast dish is drawn. In the bottom right corner, a diagonal line with a dash in the centre creates a triangle with the corner; within the triangle is a dark grey right trapezoid and a two dash wide vertical line. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in blue ink on a white background. At the top is the bookstore's logo, three books leaning against the letters "AB." Listed below is the bookstore's commercial information including the bookstore's name, "Ascendant Books Ltd."

A pencil drawing and a poem on a dark tan coloured bookmark. The front-side of the bookmark is a hand-drawn image of a human-like being and a hand-printed poem. At the top of the front-side, a grey star is drawn. Below, the face of a human-like being is directed downwards towards the bottom of the bookmark. The being has a large curled nose, thick lips, a pierced ear, a heavily shaded brow ridge, and a flat cone-shaped forehead decorated with small asterisks. A snake-like arm(?) extends from the being's forehead towards its nose; at the end of the arm is a human-like hand with an ovoid. A dashed line extends from the being's hand, through the lines of text, to the drawing at the bottom edge. At the bottom, an unclosed ring with rounded ends encircles a creature with a wavy tongue. Between the two drawings is the handwritten poem. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine printed in black ink. At the top, an image of two people sitting and reading with their legs on a window ledge, is printed between two block pyramids. Below is the bookstore's name, "The Corner Bookstore," and commercial information.

A pencil drawing and poem on a bookmark. The bookmark and drawing are both vertically oriented. On the front-side of the bookmark, an image of an abstract whale with a mask, is depicted in pencil. At the top, an image of a decorated mask, taken from a book, is glued to the bookmark; two lines of pencil continue the contours of the mask onto the paper. An active blowhole is drawn below the mask along the right edge of the page. A dorsal fin, decorated with a thick dark grey border, three unshaded ovals, and two unshaded tower shapes, is drawn below the blowhole. The body of the whale is decorated with a thick border of grey pencil, three uncoloured ovals, two ovoids, and one shaded tower-shape. A small human skull is drawn upside down in the largest uncoloured oval. The whale's tail is drawn near the left edge of the paper; it extends outwards from the body and is decorated with an unshaded tower-shape with a grey circle at the top. Below the drawing is the poem, "First, under the sea Then, over the land Into the sky Finally, the long journey And then the fall back to Nisma..." written in pencil. The reverse-side of the bookmark is a machine-printed image of a crowd of people gathered in front of a brown bookstore on a winter's night. The phrase, "BOOKS for EVERYBODY," is printed in indigo at the bottom of the page.
