Imari Bowl529/11

Bowl with rounded sides, scalloped edge, and raised foot ring; sides are scalloped with concavities on interior. Each scallop is decorated with a distinct pattern that is the same on both interior and exterior; the patterns appear between three and nine times on bowl. Three blue-outlined red areas with central floral decorations interrupt patterns on both interior and exterior; centre of interior has a scroll decoration on white ground.

The doll is a male wearing a red and gold-coloured headdress and a white, black, green, gold- and bronze-coloured robe. He has three sheathed swords, two of which are tied at his waist and one of which he is holding at an angle with his left hand upraised. His right hand holds a white flat object rimmed with gold. He is standing on a flat rectangular wood base painted black and lined with green fibre. The name plate (part b) is wood painted with black characters and a red stamp.
