Devil king mask with a black face, multi-coloured twisting horns and a silver crown. The nose has four large ridges above pink nostrils. The mouth has pink lips and four spiked white teeth framed on each side by a pair of fangs. The eyes protrude slightly with irises that fade from yellow to orange at the edges. Each cheek has two large curved ridges. The ears are flame-shaped with coral coloured tips. At the top of the face are four wavy yellow triangular projections.
Circular orange dance skirt in five tiers, heavily sequined and flaring out to a much wider hemline. Decorated netting fabric on top, lined with cotton. The sequin and braid floral design is divided by four double vertical bands. The skirt is smocked into a narrow tapered waistband with two ties. The lining is light brown with a pink lower border.
Small bear mask with bulging eyes and thick light grey fur on head and chin. The mask is made of painted tin, with alpaca skin glued on. The short snout is black, with pink nostrils and a high ridge on each side. The bulging eyes have large black pupils and orange irises. There are spiky green eyelashes and flaps with wavy tops above each eye. The ears have green centres with black and white stripes, oranges edges and gold trim. The mouth has pointed white teeth and two large fangs.
Large rectangular, silver and dark purple processional banner. Centre of banner is a depiction of a woman holding a small child in one hand and a sceptre and a basket in the other. The image is framed by silver embroidery, and around that are the words "Santisima Virgen de la Candelaria". Below the image is a heart made of fabric and surrounded by sequins and pearls. The banner has two silver embroidered birds on either side of the central image. Silver raised flowers with glass centres, pearls, beads, silver butterflies decorate the entire background. The scalloped lower edge has a fringe and a silver edging frames the banner. There are three sets of hanging ties at the top edge.
Large rectangular, silver and black processional banner, arranged in four sections. The top section has a silver fringe along the lower edge and two raised silver flowers on a background of floral motifs. Tthe central section has a plastic portrait of Jesus in a raised silver fabric frame. Below the picture are two embroided kneeling angels on either side of a chalice with a blue book below, and a large embroidered floral motif at the bottom. The side panels each have three raised silver flowers and a container with flowers. The side panels are pointed at the bottom, the central panel is shaped and the bottom edge is bordered by a silver fringe. There are three sets of hanging ties at the top edge.
Moreno king mask, made of painted tin. Flesh coloured male face with a silver crown and gold pipe. The blue eyes are framed with spiked eyelashes that fade from red at the base to yellow and white. The eyebrows are thick, furrowed and dark blue. At the top of the head are two flame-like projections, edged in dull gold. There are two sets of ears. The front pair is dark blue with irregularly spiky edges. The back set is large, green at the centre with six large flame-like points around the edges and decorated with a gold trim. There is silver glitter on the front of the crown.
Small altar containing three dimensional figures representing the nativity. The exterior of the object is painted yellow-white. The side walls and top of the altar are bordered with dark blue. On each side of the altar, there are successive rows of yellow and pink dots over top the yellow-white background. The door of the object is attached to the altar with two pieces of leather that serve as hinges. There is a flower painted on the front of the door. It has pink, blue and green petals. Above the door, there is a triangular piece of wood attached to the front of the roof, giving the façade a triangular roofline. On the inside of the door, there is a pink flower with green leaves. Inside the altar, the back and side walls are painted dark blue. There are gold stars in the sky. At the back of the scene within the altar, two haloed figures stand in either corner. On the left side, the figure is a man who holds a staff in his left hand. In the right corner, the figure is a woman who has her hands clasped in prayer. Both of the figures look upon baby Jesus, who lies on a circular crib between them. The crib is yellow and has a crimped edge that is painted pink and gold. In front of baby Jesus, on the left side, there is a kneeling angel with yellow wings and a red cloak. She has her hands clasped in prayer. Opposite the angel, on the right side, there is a man in a brown hat and jacket; he plays a flute-like instrument. There are two sheep lying in front of the baby. One of them reclines on all fours. The other stands as if he is sniffing the baby. Both of the animals sit upon green mounds. There is a piece of tape stuck to the back of the object with a number written on it in blue pen.
Elaborate dance cape representing the death of the last indigenous leader of the Inca Tupac Amaru. The form of the cape consists of a square piece of textile sewn to a half-moon piece of fabric that has a small hole to fit around the wearer’s neck. The background textile is purple. There is yellow fringe around most of the perimeter of the object. The images on the half-moon portion of the cape are ornamental. There are birds, flowers and leaves sewn into the purple background with silver, red, pink, green and yellow fibre. There are also silver and bronze-coloured sequins adorning these decorative motifs. At the top of the square portion of the cape, letters in dark purple read “Muerte de Tupac Amaru” (death of Tupac Amaru). On the left side of the title, two men have green and silver rope wrapped around them, as if they are tied up. On the right side of the title, a woman is tied with the same rope to a silver, pink, green and orange pole. Directly below the title, five men in military dress stand in a row; they wear green caps, silver jackets with red trim and gold buttons, pink pants and brown boots. They all hold yellow swords by their sides. On either side of the row of men, there are men in striped shirts riding silver and brown horses. The horses are running in opposite directions. In the lower right and lower left corners of the cape, there are two more men on horses. A green and silver rope connects each horseman to the hands and feet of the figure of Tupac Amaru, lying in the middle of the configuration of horses; he is being quartered. Tupac Amaru wears a yellow jacket, pink shirt, purple pants and light purple socks. Below the body of Tupac Amaru, there are two mirrors in embossed metal frames sewn onto the textile. The back of the cape is unlined, it is a loose weave fabric with various stitches in it. There is a piece of tape stuck to the back, it has a number written on it in blue pen.
Portable retablo containing three-dimensional figures representing Saint Cristobal and others. The altar is made of wood with fresco painted over top. The exterior walls of the altar are painted yellow-white or yellow with red borders. On the side walls, there are grey curlicues painted over the yellow-white background. The top of the altar is painted yellow with red stripes. Along the front edge, there is a triangular piece of wood attached to the top of the altar. It is painted yellow with red accents. Below, the front doors of the altar are painted pink with red curlicues over top. There are two pieces of ribbon threaded through two holes in each door. The ribbons are striped with red and white. The interior of the doors are painted with black flowers that have red and yellow centres. Saint Cristobal stands against the back wall inside the altar. He wears a yellow robe, red cape and holds a large green leaf in his hands. He has a halo, long black hair and a beard. A haloed child sits on his right shoulder with a blue ball in his right hand. Below, there are smaller figures of people and animals. The interior walls are painted yellow-white with red, black and yellow spots. Signed on the back in black paint. Also, the title of the work, location, date and a number are written in black ink.
Embroidered wedding textile with four scenes stacked vertically. The central images are surrounded by two borders. At the top of the textile, there is a large bird with its wings spread wide. In the background, there are light and dark green plants and a sloping branch in the lower left corner of the bird’s section of the panel. Separating the top panel from the next, there is an orange line followed by a purple line. Underneath the purple line, the word ‘matrimonio’ is written in pink lettering. The word is flanked on either side by red and white flags. The word ‘matrimonio’ seems to sit on top of a structure in which four people are sitting. The structure has a black outline and the walls have an inner blue outline surrounding orange geometric designs. The bottom of the structure is denoted by a wavy pink line and a geometric blue line. Two of the four people sitting in the house are men and two are women. Standing on the outside of the house, on the left side, there is a barefoot man with his arms upraised. There is a pink squiggly line on the left side of the man and a purple squiggly line on the right. Also, there is a green leafy plant on the ground between his legs. On the opposite side of the house, there is a woman whose arms are also upraised. In between the woman’s body and the building, there is a squiggly pink line. There is a green leafy plant on the ground between her legs. The scene is separated from the one below it by a pink line followed by an orange line. In the scene below there are two men and two women that appear to be dancing. Each person in this panel has a squiggly line on either side of them. The first woman has a purple and a pink line. Below her skirt, on the left side of the image, there is a green leafy plant. The next person to the right of the woman is a man with a blue line and an orange line around him. Also there is a green leafy plant on the ground between his legs. To his right is a woman wearing a shirt, hat, skirt and sandals. She is surrounded by a purple and orange line. Behind her left foot, there is a green leafy plant. Also, in front of her right foot, there is another green leafy plant in a darker shade. To her right is a man in a hat, shirt, pants and sandals. He has a purple line on his left and a pink line on his right. There is a green leafy plant between his legs. This section is separated from the one below by a pink line followed by a purple line. In the bottom section of the panel, there is a scene with a man and woman fishing. The woman is on the left side in a brown boat. Attached to the purple fishing line that the woman is holding is a large brown fish. She is on the far right side of her boat and behind her, on the left side, there is a blue squiggly line and a triangular structure formed out of five lines. The lines are black, red, orange and light orange. To the left of the triangular structure, there is a dark green leafy plant. Below her boat, there is a pink fish, more leafy plants and blue squiggly lines to represent water. On the right side of the panel, the man kneels in a pink and orange boat. The purple fishing line that the man holds is attached to a pink fish. There is a green leafy plant in front of the man, on the right side of the panel. Behind the man there are two blue squiggly lines contained by an orange curved line and a black curved line. On the left of this structure, there is an oval structure. It is outlined in black and has a black line through the centre. There are two curved brown lines within the structure. On the far left end of the man’s boat there is another green leafy plant. In the top left and right corners of the textile, there are looped bunches of red and black thread.
