Clay pot. Vessel has a small, flat, round base, from which the body flares to a bulbous belly and then inclines to a tall, narrower neck with slightly flared rim. Exterior bottom of body is painted dark orange, while above the bowl is a light yellow with fine linear designs in black, representing the Shipibo concept of the interconnectivity of the universe. Occasional shapes in orange appear among the designs. The interior of the bowl is unpainted.

Round clay bowl. Vessel has a small round base, from which the body flares widely toward the midpoint. Bowl inclines from midpoint to mouth. Exterior below midpoint is painted in two shades of orange, glazed. Above, bowl is painted a light yellow with a fine, lightly incised linear design representing the Shipibo concept of the interconnectivity of the universe. Some lines are emphasized with dark brown paint, and occasional orange blocks of colour appear among the designs. The interior of the bowl is raw, painted sparsely in thick white and orange lines similar to those on the exterior.

Large clay pot. Vessel has a small round base, slightly concave, from which the body flares widely to a bulbous belly, then inclining to a tall, sloped neck with slightly flared rim. Bottom of body is unpainted, while midpoint is painted in blocks of light yellow and dark brown. Shoulder and neck hold linear designs in dark brown that represent the Shipibo concept of the interconnectivity of the universe. The rim and interior are painted dark brown.

Large bowl with a bulging body. The wide midpoint recedes toward a narrow mouth at top and small base at bottom. The lower half of the bowl is painted orange and glazed, with no decoration. Around the midpoint is a strip of brown with a light coloured broken zigzag motif. Above this is painted a base colour of light brownish-grey, covered with linear designs in dark brown and orange. The interior is undecorated and unglazed.

Rattle Bowl2959/23

Rattle bowl, cream slip and design inside, red slip and design outside. Round vessel has a narrow circular base from which thin walls flare widely toward a straight walled rim. The exterior is an orange-brown, painted in a small, open pattern of dark brown lines with dark brown crosses interspersed. At rim and base are encircling lines of light brown and dark brown, respectively. The interior of the bowl is painted light brown, overlaid with a large open line pattern in orange-brown and dark brown, including a cross at bottom centre, with a smaller cross at midpoint. At the rim is a single encircling dark brown line. The finish both inside and out is somewhat shiny. The base is thick, and holds noise makers that rattle when the bowl is moved.

Clay bowl with wide mouth and a neck that flows at an outward angle away from the rim. The shoulder is low and cuts sharply in toward the round, bulbous base. The interior of the pot mimics the exterior. The rim is painted a dark brown and orange-brown, with a pattern of thin brown lines in geometric forms on a cream background encircling the pot’s shoulder. The bottom is decorated with a series of criss-crossing lines and V-shapes in brown, rust and orange. The surface is shiny.

Clay bowl with wide flaring mouth and straight sides that incline sharply to a round base. The interior is decorated with thick lines of white and rust, and thin lines of brown and rust in V-shapes and a central X-shape. The finish is matte. The exterior is painted with small, delicate geometric designs in brown and rust, over a light brown base colour. Lines of brown and red-brown encircle the rim. The outer surface is shiny.

Clay "joni chomo" portrait pot. The mouth of the pot is small with a slightly flared rim. Below is a small but wide face with protruding nose, cheeks, ears and chin. The eyes are painted oblongs with a small pupil. The mouth is a small incised line emphasized by brown paint. The back of the head is painted brown. The face, ears and body to the shoulder are covered in large open patterns of dark brown lines with rust coloured accents, on a light brown base. The area below the shoulder is undecorated, but has large spots of black carbonization.

Clay "joni chomo" portrait pot. The mouth is wide, with a thin and slightly flaring rim. The interior is painted black. A face is situated on the neck with protruding nose, cheeks and chin. The eyes are painted oblongs with a small pupil. The mouth is a carved line emphasized by brown paint. The ears are brown and protrude, and the back of the head is painted brown. The face, as well as the pot’s body to the shoulder, are covered in patterns of dark brown lines with rust coloured accents, on a light yellow base. Beneath the shoulder to the foot the pot is rust in colour with large areas of black. The base is slightly concave.
