Named Fort Nuñez Gaona after Admiral Manuel Nuñez Gaona, then a high ranking naval official. The first white settlement in Washington State. Fan with celluloid ribs that are decorated with paint and metal discs in a floral motif. Fabric is gauze and is decorated with embroidered sequins in a repeating leaf and wavy line pattern. Different areas are created with a second layer of tighter gauze stitched on in some places. Top edge of fabrics is decorated with looped thread along the its length. Fan has a tapered, four-sided ivory coloured box with gold detailing for storage.
