Hat3080/90

Small round hat with a flat top. The exterior is a red velvet with a black velvet brim. The brim is lined with a chain of gold plastic flower-shaped beads. The upper sides of the hat are decorated with various coloured flower-shaped sequins sewn on to underlying paper. Small orange beads radiate from the paper and end with a small circular silver sequin. The interior of the brim is lined with a black cotton fabric.

Hat3080/85

Hat is small and square-shaped with four sides meeting at a shallow-pointed crown. The exterior is a dark blue velvet and the brim is lined with black velvet. Gold stitching runs horizontally around the hat until the hat’s midpoint, from this point the gold stiches run vertically in a triangular pattern. The lower half is interspersed with pink and silver sequins, while the upper half is decorated with pink and silver flower-shaped sequins with pink and brown beads sewn within the design. The interior is lined with a red cotton fabric.

Jade carving of goddess Bodhisattva standing on a dragon. The figure is swathed in flowing robes and headdress, right hand open at heart, left extended to the front. The fingers are very delicately carved. The dragon rests in a crouch, facing forward. The tail is curled upwards. Its surface is covered in small, delicately carved scales. The goddess stands on a shell covering the dragon’s back. The jade is buffed to a high shine. The carving is attached to a low wooden stand.

Rain Garment1404/41

Rain garment woven with an opening at the front, the edges finished with a blanket stitch, two protruding flaps at the top, each with a cord loop, and cord ties at the front centre near the top. The bottom edge is unfinished with a fibre fringe.

Plain green fabric with narrow top sloping out at sides and a curved bottom. Black fabric on top from bottom to centre, embroidered with flower shapes and sun symbols in dark pink, purple, red, blue, yellow, orange, white and green. Two sets of borders through the designs, in dark pink with white zigzag. Two top corners of black embroidered cloth have black embroidered square with one flower on each. Two loops, one on each side. Dark pink fabric on reverse.

Puppet RobeEdz4328

Small gold-coloured puppet robe. The robe has a standing collar, short sleeves, side slits, back slit and centre opening with tie. The front hem curves upwards to the centre beneath two hanging panels with fringe. There are blue bands around the sleeves and waist. There are appliqué floral motifs, silver couched designs and rows of sequins and fur overall. The inner lining is natural coloured cotton.

Shoe1404/36

Shoe with a wooden heel that is thickest under the ball of the foot and at the heel, and these parts of the sole flare outwards slightly at the base. The leather upper covers the top of the foot with open toe. The upper is formed by two symmetrical pieces of tooled leather with a vegetal design. The two pieces are joined together with strips of leather that alternate between black and off-white, and the top edge of the sole is decorated with a strip of black leather that is nailed to the wood.

Hat1404/33

Hat with conical shape that is made from woven stem with five ridges at the top that holds a series of leaves to the outer sides over an inner structure made of woven stem. The rim is formed by a strip of bamboo(?) held onto the hat with strips of woven stem. Painted with three evenly spaced yin and yang symbols in red, black and off-white on a grey ground, and the sections of the woven peak are painted in light grey, green, black, brown and red. The rim is red.

Hat1404/34

Hat made of leaf sewn together with plant fibre and stem and bell-shaped overall. The rim, which has a short indented section, is sewn with twined plant fibre(?) stitches that form a braided edge, and the sides of the hat are stitched together in rows with twined plant fibre(?). The roughly circular piece of leaf at the top of the crown is stitched on with thick pieces of plant stem(?). There is a fibre strap inside with a metal coin attached.
