FROM CARD: "A SEAL HATCHING FROM AN EGG."Per Dall's field catalogue, filed under Accession No. 3258, entry under # 625, object is described as "Pipe illustrating Thlinket myth, seal hatching from an egg, Sitka. W. H. Dall [collector]."Ruth Demmert, elder, made the following comments during the Tlingit Recovering Voices Community Research Visit, March 13-March 24, 2017. Ruth agrees with the record that this object represents a Klagu myth/legend.
Provenience note: collection apparently purchased or collected by McLean in Sitka and vicinity circa 1884.
