This is a curved pipe with a bowl shaped like a knob on a slender pole. Along the stem of the pipe are carved scenes of whale and walus hunting and village scenes with food preparation.Pipes like this were used but also made for trade.
Large, disk-shaped pin with an engraved double-headed eagle of the Habsburg Empire surrounded by floral designs (far right in photo). Used by Andean women to secure their dresses and shawls.
Hammered silver pin (tupu) embellished at the top with a hunchback figure squatting on a box of open meshwork in the front and back. The figure's arms are resting on his knees, and he holds his hands to his mouth. On his shoulders are two sticks tied in a tumpline that hangs over his chest. He has a long face with a prominent nose and two big oval eyes and wears a conical cap decorated in front with an inverted U-shaped ornament. CONDITION: good; one eye is missing.
