Bentwood Chest3000/21 a-b

Unpainted rectangular bentwood chest or box is attached to a thick base that protrudes out slightly from the walls at an angle. It is reinforced with angled wooden slats on the interior bottom edges. Two thin fibre ropes hang from the front centre panel. Lid (part b) is carved from a single piece of wood with an underside lip that fits into the box. Underside is slightly concave.

Paddle3000/20

Small wooden paddle. Paddle has a long, flat, tapered blade painted with a form-line eye in black on both sides. Shaft is long, round, and narrow, flaring slightly and flattening toward the cylindrical grip. One side of paddle has remnants of white paper attached at blade top and side, and at top of shaft.

One side of paddle has remnants of white paper attached at blade sides and on shaft near grip. Shaft is long, round, and narrow, flaring and flattening toward the grip, which is a thick carved cylinder of wood. Grip and bottom shaft on one side are covered in masking tape.

Figure carved from argillite, with the hands and head broken off. A frog sits at the front of the base, its head turned outward; it is thickly covered by shallowly incised, oblong spots. Behind the frog is a low, square platform, upon which sits upright an animal with an incised spotted back and unmarked front and limbs. The legs are bent and drawn up, toes pointing inward, arms resting against chest.

Inkstand3000/7

Inkstand is made of a low square of cut wood. Top back is flat, while front is curved concavely. The wood is painted dark brown. A round hole is bored through the centre back to hold a glass container (missing). A paper label is nailed to the front edge. Label reads: "This Inkstand is made from timber taken from the “S.S. GLAD TIDINGS”, First Methodist Mission Boat on the British Columbia Coast., 1884 - 1903".
