From card: "Woven of yarn made of dog hair and mountain goat wool; cape shape somewhat as in Chilkat and fringed on lower and two sides; painted with a totemic pattern of bear. Very rare." Described on p. 125, cat. entry 87 of Salish Weaving by Paula Gustafson, Univ. of Washington Press, 1980 as "Fibres: Mountain goat hair. Colour: Natural white; painted with totemic bear. Weave: Twill. Attributed to Cowichan; but may be Bella Coola"Pamela Brown (Heiltsuk), Ian Reid (Heiltsuk) and Clyde Tallio (Nuxalk) of the delegation from Bella Bella, Bella Coola and Rivers Inlet communities of British Columbia made the following comments during the Recovering Voices Community Research Visit May 20th - 24th, 2013. This robe is used for dancing. This ceremonial robe takes about 12 months to weave.

MADE OF REINDEER SKIN; SEAM DOWN THE FRONT; SOLES OF SAME MATERIAL; ANKLE PIECES OF SKIN OR CLOTH; TONGUE PIECE OF CLOTH, WITH OR WITHOUT EMBROIDERY. THE PLAN OF THESE SHOES RESEMBLES THOSE OF TRIBES EAST OF THE ROCKIES, BUT THE TOE IS FINISHED OFF WITH A CROSS-SEAM."

From Card: "395,521. Flat cylindrical baskets, two with partly plaited bases; the other plain—twined; walls of all in wrapped twining decorated with horizontal stripes of various colors worked into the pattern. Covers missing on two, and some rim damage."
Provenience note: many objects in the Chirouse collection were catalogued as Duwamish, however that really only seems to definitively apply to Catalogue No. 130965. Accession record indicates that the collection is the "handiwork of the Snohomish, Swinomish, Lummi, Muckleshoot and Etakmur Indians on the Tulalip Reservation in Washington Territory".
