AMEC Analysis: Comments: This artifact is a leather overshoe, approximately 13 inches in length. One cloth overshoe. A label is partially visible on the sole. Significant grey dirt accretions on interior and exterior surfaces. There is a hole in the sole with fragile, dry edges. L. Penttila 4/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a single fragment of clear, flat, texturized, glass. One edge is cut - 2 3/4 inches long. The width varies from 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 inches. One clear textured glass fragment. One edge appears to be cut, indicating the fragment is from a larger sheet of raw material. Iridescence on textured side appears original, not deterioration. Brown accretions on exposed edges. Scotch tape that was holding the tag on the textured surface removed by Burke Museum. L. Penttila 3/15/2010
AMEC Analysis: Years (min): 1880 Years (max): 1900 Comments: This boot heel is made of 9 leather pieces cobbled together with square headed nails. One leather shoe fragment representing the heel of a boot. Object is comprised of layers of leather held with square iron nails. Appears to have been cut from shoe. Iron nails are corroded. Leather is fragmenting, especially the interior layer. Layered leather is delaminating. L. Penttila 4/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a battered, round, metal object with 5 holes (each 1/2 inch in diameter) placed around the center. It is roughly 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 inch in height. It may have functioned as a Lazy Susan. One round, dark metal object with center perforation and five circular decorative perforations. May be a center cap to automotive wheel. Object is misshaped, especially the rim. Some brown and grey accretions on interior and exterior surfaces. L. Penttila 3/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a round container made of thin copper with gold enamel. It is 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall. The top is embossed with "100 Paper Fasteners - Counting House Flat Heads - No 2" and shows a picture of T-shaped fastener. Two metal fragments forming one container with brass plating. Lid impressed with: 100 COUNTING HOUSE PAPER FASTENERS FLAT HEADS No. 2 Object is bent from original shape, causing seams to rupture. Exterior surfaces are corroded and show loss of original brass plating. Interior surfaces have grey accretions. L. Penttila 3/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a heavily corroded piece of metal measuring 9 inches long and 9/16 inches wide. One metal fragment. Fragment is dense, possibly lead. Some loss of surface due to corrosion. Grains adhering to upper and lower surfaces. L. Penttila 3/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a small tree branch 9 1/2 inches in length and 9/16 of an inch wide. It is sawed on one end, however the rest of it appears natural. One sawed wooden stick. Large cracks running perpendicular to the length have weakened the object. One crack runs along the length. L. Penttila 3/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a heavily corroded piece of metal 6 inches in length and 7/8 inches wide. It may have functioned as a handle or a detail piece. One iron fragment, possibly a handle. Significantly corroded on exterior surface resulting in loss of material along length. Interior surface is corroded and has red , brown, black and grey accretions and discolorations. Large accretion has obscured the measurements and details of one end, approximately .5" beyond original object. L. Penttila 3/1/2010
AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a piece of brown leather approximately 9 inches in length and 2 3/4 inches wide. It is tanned and appears to have been attached to another piece of leather or clothing. Two slits are cut across its midsection One leather fragment. Fragment is a rectangle with two slits cut along the center line. Holes indicate the external edges and the slits' edges were sewn to another article with skin-side out. Grey residue on both sides. AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a wooden insulator mount 9 inches in length and 1 3/8 inches wide (at the base). It is flared to 1 5/8 inches wide at its midsection then tapers to 1 inch. The distal 2 5/8 inches has screw-grooves to mount a glass insulator. One wooden insulator peg like those described in (http://www.insulatorstore.com/vintage_wooden_pin.asp). Object has 9 threads separated by .25" each. Wood is beginning to split, especially at larger end. Threaded end is worn. L. Penttila 3/1/2010
