AMEC Analysis: Comments: This artifact is an old sheep skin condom with a cinch-tie at the base. It is also attached to a bent, corroded nail of an unknown type. Two pieces of a condom, possibly sheepskin, with a nail embedded in the larger fragment. Rubber was used for condoms as early as 1844 and so material type is unknown. The corrosion prevents a determination of the specific type of nail, however, it appears to have an age range of approximately 1890 to 1920. One round-cut iron nail. AMEC Analysis: Years (min): 1820 Years (max): 1900 Comments: This is a square-headed nail with a square body. It is bent, but would likely be 3 1/4 inches in length. It is a type B cut nail with an age range of 1820 to 1900 (Visser 1996). One square cut iron nail. Severely corroded. Surfaces are exfoliating with significant loss of material. L. Penttila 3/1/2010

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a kidney-shaped, hinged cigar tin lid. It is 3 1/4 inches long and 7/8 winches wide. It is very corroded. One kidney shaped hinged cigar tin lid. Some remnants of original material on interior surface. Tan and brown accretions on interior surface; tan accretions may represent original contents. Blue discoloration on interior. AMEC Analysis: Years (Min): 1890 Years (Max): 1930 Comments: This artifact is the top of a wooden barrel made of 5 pine strips fastened together with 3/8-inch dowels and glue. If complete, the barrel would be 12 inches in diameter. It has a 1 3/4-inch pine cork and a single round-headed nail still attached. One wood and metal barrel lid. Three separate wood pieces and one metal piece. The two smaller wooden fragments cross mend around the cork. The larger fragment does not match in color and size with the other two. Small white discolorations, possibly mold or salt, are present on interior and exterior of lid, but not internal wooden surfaces. Metal fragment is heavily corroded and fragile. L. Penttila 3/1/2010

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This artifact is a heavily corroded metal handle with squared ends and four holes for fasteners. One iron handle with squared ends drilled for fasteners and a raised handle. Object is heavily corroded on all surfaces. Embedded sand and gravel on handle and one end. L. Penttila 3/1/2010

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This artifact is a steel strip with one bent end forming an acute angle. The strip is finished with lacquer and has a perforated end presumable for hanging on a hook. It is 10 inches long and 1 1/8 inches wide; the curved end is 1 1/2 inches long. One enameled iron handle, possibly from a cooking or serving pot. Smaller end has a perforation, possibly for hanging; larger end has a bend with remains of formerly attached pan. Surface is corroded. Enamel is exfoliating, especially near bent end. L. AMEC Analysis: Years (min): 1915 Years (max): 1930 Comments: This is a type 10 evaporated milk can with crimped seams and a raised post-hole with matchstick filler (Simonis 1990). One steel can with crimped edges and ice-pick openings. Probably a machine produced hole-in-top can. "9610" is printed on the base. Exterior is corroded. Black accretions, possibly the remnants of a label, also on exterior. Small dents on walls, some associated with perforations and corrosion. White accretions grouped on one side. L. Penttila 3/10/2010
