Flat unglazed base showing coarse grey-brown body; compressed barrel form rounding into short neck with a straight galleried lip. Two irregular grooves 2 cm. above the base give the impression of a foot. Covered in glossy opaque red-brown glaze, which displays fine iron specks, falling just short of the base, with one vertical reserved panel in opaque matte yellow-white slip. Some random grit incorporated in the glossy glaze, particularly near the base; minor flaws and scrapes on either side of the reserved panel.

Seto ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). Globular form on flat base, displaying dark brown body. Thick, glossy red-brown glaze, flecked with yellow-brown, is dark at the lip and pools to dark brown on the minimal neck, thins over the shoulder to broad streaks speckled with yellow-green which end in deep brown pooling well above the base. Four matte brown repairs on lip.

Seto ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). Flat base showing rough, dark grey-brown body. Squat cylindrical form curving sharply inward at shoulder to short neck, rounded lip. Thick iridescent coffee-coloured glaze thins over lip, pools darkly beneath it, thinning again at the shoulder. From there dark brown streaks, sometimes exhibiting, crackling fall over the glossy surface to the base, where glaze chipped in one place. Two matte brown repairs, and two gold lacquer ones, located on lip.

Seto ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). Cylindrical form curving gently inward at base, and more sharply at shoulder minimal neck, rounded lip. Flat, unglazed base showing dark brown body. Thick opaque coffee-coloured glaze, thinning slightly over lip, pools into a dark brown-black ring which ends below lip in an iridescent streak falling over the shoulder.

Washi sample mounted on white, labelled and folded paper with 3-pointed leaf above scrolled 'm' watermark. Sample is thick, red brown with pocked and crinkled texture. Scattered on surface are a few short ridges, giving appearance of fibres placed just below surface, and five small dark brown and gold irregular-shaped flowers with roughened, elevated surfaces.

Sample is thick, blue white finely-textured and patterned sheet: crossing diagonal, white lines form diamond pattern, each diamond with hole design formed where white fibres concentrate and disperse. Also, shining surface composed of rows of minute squares to give woven appearance.
