Fragment: Hat3448/49

Piece of cloth completely embroidered with three rows of repeating geometric shapes in red, black and orange. The bottom edge is finished with a loop stitch in red; the other three sides have cut edges.

Kohl Container3357/6

Small kohl container composed of two round containers with pointed ends, attached at their long edge. Each container has a flat flower-shaped stopper with a small hole at centre. The opposite end tapers to a capped point. Between the two tubes is a small flattened loop with a chain attached; on the other end of the chain is a dabber, capped similarily to the containers, with a square shaft etched with zigzags that transition to a smooth cylindrical end. The container is decorated with dots and thin strips of twisted metal.

Breastplate3357/4

Diamond-shaped breastplate painted with gold. Cross-shaped metalwork at centre, with five inset polished oval reddish-brown carnelian(?) stones, one at each end of the cross and one at the centre. Around the cross is a diamond-shaped band composed of small plaited chains of metal, then a row of small inset polished circular reddish-brown stones, and then a band around the outer edge of two plaited chains with a snaking line between. At the top is a small hooked attachment. Top edges decorated with attached triangular clover-shaped metal pieces. Bottom edge has a fringe of chains with diamond-shaped ornaments at the end. There are eight tassels, one on each side with two more hanging from long plaited fibres, and two more near the bottom edge. Each tassel composed of a metal cap, from which diamond ornaments hang from S-hooks around the edge, and dark green, dark pink, or dark eggplant purple fibre hangs from underneath with small white beads at the end.

Hat3357/3

Hat with a pointed gathered fabric top. The front of the hat is heavily embroidered with burgundy and black checkerboard design, and the back is plain burgundy fabric. The interior is lined with a light off-white fabric. On each side, a long burgundy fabric flap hangs, both heavily cross stitched in bright geometric designs, with a length of dark green and dark red cord with a flat cross-section. The left cord has a short fringe, and the right cord has a long fringe. The burgundy flaps are lined with a green fabric with oval cutouts at ear level. Attached to the hat is a black cord with a flat cross-section that is stitched to a metal loop on either side of the rim of the face, leaving a length of cord dangling on each side.

Necklace3357/5

Choker-style necklace composed of a band of chain mail with pentagonal metal ends, each with a small attached loop and a small looped wire through it. The chain mail is covered by small strips of metal wrapped around the chain mail. Attached to the lower edge is a string of small bells, with one larger chain and bell at one end and a small hide tie at the other end.

Dress3295/8

Dress is long, with a V-neck, and long sleeves. Heavily embroidered in repeating Palestinian flags and Arabic writing extending in two panels down the front of the dress, around the cuffs, and on the chest. There are small slits on each side of the dress at the bottom. The edges are all embroidered with black thread, and red thread along the bottom hem. The interior is unlined.

Draw strings extend down from top of V-neck. The centre of each flower has wire embroidery. Multi-coloured figure eight stitching joins material along vertical seams. Small tree of life on back of skirt (T-shape).

Dress3295/2

Long black dress with cross-stitch embroidery all over, mainly in a vibrant red, with details in white, pink, light green, purple, blue, green and yellow. Four large embroidered triangular designs decorate the top of the garment, one on each shoulder, and one on the chest, and the other on the back. Different sleeve style with gussets under the arm. The hemline and seams are embroidered by double rows of orange zigzag stitching. It appears the designs extending down the right side of the skirt were not completed.
