Jester Mask2946/96

Pepino mask. Fabric mask in white with a large red heart on each cheek. The tip of the nose and curved lips are painted red. There are red and white diamonds, outlined in black, across the chin. Two white ears are stapled to the sides of the face. There are three foam triangles at the top of the mask in pink, white and green. The hem on the front is done in yellow thread.

Jester Mask2946/92

Pepino mask. Fabric mask with a half-yellow, half-black face. The nose and curved lips are painted red. There are red, black and yellow diamonds on the chin and a large red heart on each cheek. At the top of the head are three foam triangles in pink, white and yellow. White ears stapled to the sides of the face. The back hem is stitched in white thread, while the front is unstitched.

Shawl2946/32

Small woven everyday mantle or shawl. Rectangular with undecorated black upper half and a central band of geometric patterns flanked by rows of animal designs on the lower half. Images of figures and insects. The animal patterns mirror each other across the linear design in the centre of the bottom portion. There are green, blue and purple stripes running horizontally across the lower half. All four sides have a white border with green and purple dots.

Hanging2946/30

Multi-coloured woven "tapiz," or standard style, hanging. Weaving has three loops (green, black and purple) at the top edge and multi-coloured (dark red, orange, blue, green, red and pink) woven flaps along the bottom edge. The main rectangular section is filled with multicoloured images of seven different types devil creatures, four snakes and a lizard. The creatures are on a black background, inside an orange rectangular diamond pattern, with a blue outer border. There is a pink and yellow patterned band along the top and a green and yellow patterned band along the bottom. The back is a mirror image of the weaving on the front.

Medium woven textile. Dark brown with fine bands in white, pink, orange, blue, green, and floral patterns at one edge. Thick, vertical brown stripe down the centre with multi-coloured, thin stripes on either side of the brown. There are zigzag, patterned vertical stripes near both edges.

Black woven skirt with light blue, green, red, pink and purple patterns on waistband. Floral motif. Black textile with a thick stripe with geometric designs along both edges. One is a white and blue diamond pattern with flowers, alternating short and tall, been embroidered along the inside edge. The other is a maroon and white zigzag design.

Retablo Altar2903/5

Small altar with a wood base covered with fibre then a clay-like substance. The side and top walls of the altar are painted red-brown. The front of the object is painted pink with yellow, red, green and white detailing. There is a decorative edge slightly offset from the front of the object that wraps around the side walls and the top of the altar. The undulating lines of the edge are accentuated with yellow and red painted borders. The interior walls of the altar are light brown. There is a light grey and yellow pattern with purple flowers painted over top the light brown. A three-dimensional plastic figure of a man is standing within the altar. The man has a halo and a Franciscan style haircut. He holds a gold dagger in his left hand. He wears a white dress with blue lines underneath a short-sleeved robe. It is pink with a yellow, red, green and gold pattern over top. He stands on a three-part plinth. The top of the plinth is white with blue lines, the lower portion is gold and the bottom portion is green. The back and bottom of the altar are light grey.

Retablo Altar2903/10 a-c

Small altar containing a three dimensional depiction of a Saint (Saint Thomas?) sitting in a chair. The exterior of the box is painted light grey. The doors each have two pieces of wire attaching them to the altar. There is a metal latch attached to the left door which fits into a metal ring on the right door. On the interior of each door, there is a flower within an oval yellow border. The flower is light grey with brown detailing and a curved green stem. Above the doors, there is a piece of wood angled at both sides created open mitered corners at the top of the façade. It is painted black along the front edge, grey on top and blue on the underside and sides. The edges of the side walls of the altar are painted red where they border the opening of the altar. The opening is also bordered by an inset piece of wood that is cut into an arch. It is decorated with pieces of clay moulded into abstract shapes; they are painted black and green. There are also red and white painted circles decorating the archway. Around the arch, there is a piece of clay moulded to form a scalloped edge; it is painted black. There is a figure of a man sitting inside the altar. His chair is green. The man has brown hair and pink skin. His body is painted with a brown robe and he wears a light grey robe made of fibre over top. There is a metal hat wide-brimmed hat loose within the altar; its provenience is unknown. There is a number written in red pen and pencil on the back of the object. The bottom of the object is unpainted.
