Bag3083/11

Square woven bag with three vertical bands of geometric motifs, three square pouches, multicoloured fringes and a strap with wave decorations. Peruvian and Bolivian coins from the 1800's have been sewn with cotton threads on the front side. The most common engraved phrase on the coins is: "Libre por la constitucion" (free by the constitution). Plain weave textile technique.

Knitted bag with narrow opening, square shape in the middle, triangular at end (diagonal decoration), five bands and pompons around the edge in green, yellow, red, pink and orange dyed wool. Three pockets (two in one side and one in the other side) are rectangular in top body and triangular at ends with geometric designs forming a potato flower. Pockets have three pompons on each triangular end: (1) red and pink, (2) green and yellow and (3) yellow and orange (other side). Five bands with different motifs: eight circles around a main circle, wavy black design, humans holding hands with birds, birds in profile, and curved lines crossing each other.

Spinning Ball3083/9

Oval spinning ball, covered in brown woven fibre with a loop at one end and round opening at the other end. Ball is filled with raw off-white cotton(?) in the interior.

Modified polychrome cup with flaring rim, narrow base and bulging centre. Terracotta with red-brown, light orange-brown, cream and black slip. Bold abstract decor with panel of four-stepped motif on rim. Burnished surface. Unbroken.

Retablo Altar2946/84

Altar in a cardboard shadowbox with a gold frame. Framed 3D composite image of the "Virgen de Copacabana" (the patron saint of Bolivia) in a red archway surrounded by money, flowers, and with a small car, house etc. at the base. The "Virgen de Copacabana" is at centre, crowned and outlined in gold against a blue sky background. She holds a baby in one hand and a rod in the other. In front of the figure there is a red light bulb which is connected to a white chord through the back of the cardboard. The chord terminates in a two-pronged black plug. The altar is decorated with two miniature $100 US bills, gold beads, red fabric, fabric flowers, miniature toys and a small green statue. There is a triangular hook on the back for hanging.

Clay bowl with light brown glaze on the inside and dark brown patterns around the brim. The outside of the rim is dark green. There is a bow-like design at the centre in dark brown, with four dark green splash-like patterns around it. The sides and bottom of the bowl are an unglazed brown-red colour. HGH is written in black in the centre of the foot.

Clay bowl with brown glaze on the inside and dark green splash like patterns around the centre. There is a bow-like pattern in dark brown at the centre of the bowl. There are two thick dark brown lines around the inside of the rim. The outside of the rim is ridged and painted dark green. The sides and bottom are unglazed.

Four leaf-like shapes point outwards from the centre of the inside. The outside of the rim is dark green. HGH printed in black in the centre of the foot.
