The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Unidirectional body, bifacial core. Material is fine grained volcanic, light grey in colour with brown and orange mottled spots. It is dull and opaque. Palm size, angular, presence of flake scars on distal edge.
Palm sized triangular in shape. Possible oxidation present, evidence of wear on the exterior side, orange inclusion near proximal side. The material is a fine-grained volcanic rock, dark grey in colour with orange mottled spots. It is dull and opaque.
Small semi-circular, no evidence of retouch, bulb of percussion present under platform. Possible wear on distal edge. Material is a fine-grained rock, light grey in colour with brownish orange mottled spots. It is dull in lustre and opaque.
proximal fragment of a nipple top hand maul. Tapered shaft, Missing the base , top has pecking suggesting use-wear, polished
End struck cortex spall. It is retouched. The material is fine-grained volcanic with medium-grained crystalline inclusions. It is light-grey in colour, with a slight green to yellow tone. It has light brown banding, which is waxy. It has a dull lustre and is opaque. Chemical weathering, large banding through the stone which is a different (waxier) texture. Retouch on distal edge. Some faint discolouration, dark grey, possibly fire-altered? Some excavation damage near proximal end and some on the distal edge. Retouch and point of impact are visible but heavily worn.
Core. Fine-grained volcanic rock. Yellowish brown in colour, with grey patchy stains, felsic/intermediate. The lustre is dull and it is slightly translucent. There is evidence of chemical weathering, pourous pock marks and vesticles, bulky, rough uneven. Not confident about whether it is a core or block shatter due to weathering.
Debitage - secondary flake. Fine-grained volcanic rock with inclusions of larger crystalline grains in cortex. Colour is a very dark grey with a very dark brownish gray patina on the cortex. It has a dull lustre and is slightly translucent. It is small, uneven, weathered, and the cortex has crystalline structures visible.
small piece of shatter
medium grey, ovalline, broken in half. Ground stone, chipped edges
egg-shaped to round, medium grey, flat stone, some pock marks likely natural. Very smooth but no polish as would be expected from an abrader. Ground stone
