Dagger3363/1

Y-shaped iron dagger with a thin wrapped handle. Dagger has a long tapered blade, which changes angles towards the tip, coming to a point. The back of the blade is flat. The narrow handle is wrapped with a thin strip of leather, and splits at the hilt creating the overall Y-shape.

Basket3355/1 a-b

Small cylindrical basket (part a) with a flat fitted lid (part b). The basket itself is a natural grass colour. Around the base of the basket and rim of the lid is a taupe/bright orange/taupe band, which also forms a circle in the centre of the lid. At mid-point, basket has two rows of offset faded taupe rhomboid/diamond patterns. Midpoint on the lid is a row of faded orange rhomboid/diamond designs.

Small cylindrical basket (part a) with a fitted lid (part b). Near the base of the basket and around rim of the lid is a band of taupe, natural and bright orange in sections of three. Both the bottom edge and lid edge are marked with black and natural repeating. At mid-point, basket has one green and one dark purple reptile-like creature with grey and orange diamond pattern between. Midpoint on the lid decorated with alternating faded orange and black diamond designs, around the small raised section at centre. Heavily faded. The basket itself is a natural grass colour.

Coast Salish Potlatch Dress3339/1

Tunic-style dress made of woven cedar bark, with full-length wool panel down the centre front. Wool woven around cedar bark in horizontal rows throughout dress. Cedar bark and dark brown wool fringe along bottom edge. Dark brown wool fringe down entire left and right sides of dress. Wool panel on front has white background with mirrored chevron pattern. Small teal diamond in middle of pattern with alternating light blue, dark blue, brown and teal V shapes, on either side of diamond, until top and bottom ends of panel. Inner V’s made up of coloured triangles. Outer three V’s are solid teal, light blue and dark blue. Top and bottom edges of panel are dark brown. White wool fringe along top and bottom edges of panel, top fringe hangs inside of dress. Interior lined with dark brown wool.

Model pole, carved and painted. From top: bird, human figure, rectangular section with three faces (one with body), two figures (one wrapped around the other), and a human figure at the base. Large, unframed painting on a rectangular piece of handmade "washi" paper. Painting depicts a craterous landscape of oil barrels with groups of red pipelines and rivers of black snaking through. Bursts of yellow extend from some of the barrels while others have drawings of fish, humanoid faces or other creatures on the lid. The background is a solid black sky. Signed in the bottom right corner.

Blanket3356/1

Weaving with a background of natural off-white wool. The design features a box created by a black and off-white checkerboard pattern with some brown-yellow within. This box is bordered by brown-red checkerboard with two black lines across the top, and three black lines across the bottom. Within the box, a series of horizontal bands with triangles and zigzags. Between the bands is a grid of four by four small sections of bold zigzag designs with small natural off-white sections in between (three by three). The loops along the top of the blanket are shorter than those along the bottom.

Dip Net3330/1

Dip net composed of a long pole handle, hoop and net. Net composed of woven cotton string. Hoop composed of two pieces of bent wood, tied together at the top and attached to the pole by two wooden pegs, black coated wire and cord. Net suspended from hoop by six metal rings (three on each side), fibre and wire bindings at top. A small piece of dark blue fabric and light green fabric are tied in the net, as well as some pieces of a rough unwound plant fibre rope. A long cord is attached to a metal ring on both sides of the hoop. A piece of off-white string is tied to the pole near the end.

Round, rectangular-shaped headband with strap that hangs from back. Made of beads and band has cotton lining. Strand and band have dark brown-coloured seed fringe on bottom edges. Seeds hang from alternating black and white strands, with a single red bead in each strand. Strap and band have similar geometric patterns composed of yellow, outlined in black, on a green background. Strap has a white border outlined in black. Band has a three tiered border. Border made of a thick silver-white-coloured line, thin red line outlined in black, and another thick silver-white line. Band is outlined in black.
