Stylized image of a house front. Gabled roof and outside supports in red-orange bands. House front design is bilaterally symmetrical. Three wedge shaped vertical elements hang under the eaves on each side of the roof. In the house, there is a frontal humanoid figure at the top centre on top of a black rectangle with circles off centre. To either side, there are large profile whales curling and facing inward with the ovoid head to the centre and the black outlined split u to the outside. Red outlined horizontal band above the house tapers to the right with two notches, one at the centre and one to the left. Random series of red outlined circles between the band and the roof on the left side. Pencil inscription across the bottom edge '42/80 29/3/77 HOUSE OF BLACKFISH Roy Henry Vickers TSIMSHIAN TRIBE KITKATLA B.C.'. The print is on a horizontally rectangular, brown paper stock.

Stylized frontal bird with profile head facing to the right side above a profile curved whale facing to the left side. Both in black, curving form line, ovoids, etc., with secondary elements in brown. Bird's eye is ovoid with ovoid centre surrounded by a tapering oval. Beak follows a curve from the top of the ovoid to a blunt end. Beak is slightly open with a brown tongue. There are two brown u forms behind the mouth. A brown u forms and split u are beside the eye along the beak. Wings on either side have vertically aligned ovoids in ovoid followed by two brown u forms on the right and one on the left, then three elongated split u forms along the body. Tail has two red u forms above three longer ones. To the right of the body, there are two rows of brown u forms. Lower limbs on either side of the body and tail ending in circle variations. Two vertically aligned brown u forms between the body and the left wing. Two horizontally aligned u forms between the body and the right wing. Wedge of brown u lines above. Whale has a black circle in circle eye and a snout that is u-shaped with a brown u form and two brown split u's at the centre. Slightly open mouth with a top row of even teeth and a segmented brown tongue. Pectoral fin at the bottom next to the head is a black ovoid within ovoids followed by a brown u form u at the centre. Dorsal fin is the tail of the bird. Body of whale has black outlined brown rib-like bands on either side of a split, curving brown centre line. Tail at the right bottom has a black circle at the centre and flukes to each side. Two brown u forms of varying sizes on either side. Pencil inscription across the bottom reads '88/150 23/4/79 RAVEN and WHALE Roy Henry Vickers'. Embossed circular stamp at the lower right reads 'Canadian Native Prints Limited' with a salmon image at the centre. The print is on a vertically rectangular, white paper stock with four deckle edges.

The Creation of EveNb7.302

Stylized configurative figures of a horizontal male across the bottom, a vertical female, and a bird above. All are in black form line with circles at tge joints and interior details in red. Male lies on his back with his head to the left side, his right leg is bent, and his right arm rests on his groin. Floating female has an arched back and her arms fall straight down behind her along with her flowing hair. The pointed toe of her foot touches the bottom edge of the male's ribcage. The bird has wings curving out in a v-shape with its head pointed down at the centre. Human limbs have red u forms or lines following the outer contours. Lips are red, and there are 2 u forms across the cheeks. Bird has a series of connected red u forms along the wing bands with two or three vertical lines in each, except for the first. Wing on the right ends in black, red, then black tapering line. On the left ends with five alternating black and red tapering lines. Pencil inscription across the bottom edge reads '59/100 Feb. 77 THE CREATION OF EVE Roy Henry Vickers TSIMSHIAN TRIBE KITKATLA B.C.'. Embossed circular stamp at the bottom right reads 'Canadian Native Prints Limited' with a salmon at the centre. The print is on a vertically rectangular, light brown paper piece.

Open, handbag-style, rectangular coiled basket of cedar root with cedar slat foundation and sides. Handle is braided across top of loop work and at rim of basket on short sides. Three rows of wrapped looping below semi-circular handles. Looping is two rows of continuous triangle shapes and a bottom row of looped curls. Beaded and imbricated decoration on sides includes three rows of undyed light brown grass checkerboard design over top and bottom coiled rows. Stylized butterfly-like motif on each end and repeated twice on each side. Each butterfly has four 'wings' of cherry bark beading; each wing is three rows of over one, under one, over two, under one, and over one. Between the wings, top and bottom is one imbrication section of cherry bark and at the centre of the wings is two cherry bark with a grass imbrication element between.

Set of cylindrical gambling sticks with knobs on each end. (a) has three evenly spaced red lines around the circumference, at centre, crossed by a dark stain and three dark spots on one side. (b) has three evenly spaced thin black lines at centre and spots to one side. (c) has three evenly spaced red lines, a black line at one side and several spots at opposite end. One spot towards lines side. (d) has a black, red, then black line towards one end. (e) has three closely spaced thin black lines to one side; dark stains on this end. (f) has four red lines near centre; (g) has three black lines at centre with a black and a red shadow-like stains diagonally across centre; (h) has three faint red lines, evenly spaced at centre; (i) is stained red on one end with a black line towards centre and a shadowy black stain diagonally around centre. (j) has three red line near centre, a fourth red line near red stained end. Two white paint spots at this end. (k) has three red lines evenly spaced at centre and two black lines to one side. Stains near centre and white paint spots to one end. (l) has five spaced lines from centre, the outer two are thicker. (m) is undecorated.

Rectangular coiled basket of cedar root with cedar slat foundation and sides. Raised foot runs flush with sides. Single semi-circular wrapped handle across centre splits in two on both sides and loops through loops at plain rim. Beaded decoration on outer surface includes three bands of three rows of green dyed grass covering one coiled row, in a stepped design of over two and under one. These bands are spaced below the rim, and have two plain coiled rows between second and third bands. Foot has pink dyed grass band as wide as coiling, in a pattern of over one, under one, over one, under one, over three, under one, over one, and under one in evenly spaced segments with plain coiling intervening.

Part (a) Oval, coiled basket (with bifurcated stitches) with elongated watch-spring construction. Imbricated geometric zig-zag design in three alternating rows, in dark and red cherry bark and light brown grass. Loop work at base forming a foot. Fitted convex lid (b) has small handle with dark cherry bark beading. Imbricated geometric design on lid of adjoined triangles to form a circular pattern, and two alternating rows of zig-zag as on basket.

Crooked Beak MaskNb3.1411

Large white mask, with black and red as secondary colours, has curved beak with a spiral curled end resting on a square-like upper lip. Tapered curved downturned horns are inset into square grooves at upper rim above eyebrows and facing forward, a piece of metal is nailed at upper rim above each horn. Crescentic brows above black and white circular pupils. Beak has black ridge with short lines on each side; beak incorporates flaring hollow nostrils, two black ridged curvilinear lines above each nostril, black line along nostril rim and spiral end, red underside to beak; red lip band. Upper lip band has a series of inward pointing black triangles and a triangular groove at each end. Nailed at side on right is a small crooked beak of heaven mask. At back, curved red rectangular piece attached at hinge on bottom of upper jaw. Metal nailed over split on interior of lower jaw.

Dzunuk'wa MaskNb3.1407

Dzunuk’wa mask with black hair inserted into drilled holes along upper rim and at brow ridge and a dark grey-black face. The mask has red-rimmed eye holes, a small flattish nose, open pursed red lips, and four red oval depressions, one on each temple and on each cheek. On the reverse, a cord is looped and knotted through two drilled holes in the sides at eye level. Three holes for hair inserts are visible on the reverse, two near the top, and one on the side below the hole for the cord. Signed "Beau Dick 1983" on the interior.

Human MaskNb11.338

Subtly shaped blue human face mask tha has hair, with the ends wrapped in tape, inserted into seventeen drilled holes in the upper rim. Painted bent black brows above hollow cut out almond shaped eyes. Orbital ridge melds with diagonal cheek ridges. Red-brown band around each hollow oval shaped nostril. Black moustache above continuous red-brown lip band while the lower lip protrudes. Triangular black goatee below lower lip. Reverse painted red-brown; two metal 'eyes' screwed in at eye level. Cord passed through eyes and tied. Signed on the back side rim 'J. David 82'.
