Oval face with prominent brows and crease between brows. Round wooden, closely spaced, inlay eyes in corners of deep horizontal groove. Triangular nose, prominent cheeks and mouth, and incised teeth rows at bottom.
Oval face with prominent brows and crease between. Round wooden inlay eyes, closely spaced, in corners of deep horizontal groove. Triangular nose in higher relief than prominent cheeks and mouth. Teeth row incised, above sloping chin. Mottled dentine shows at crown and lower relief.
A main design consisting of a black thunderbird with a serpent on the wing at the right and a wolf on the wing at the left surmount a green mountain-like island. Whale below island. Thunder bird has profile head, facing side on the right. Two ears side by side are joined at downward curving tips. Short curved open beak. Wings outspread horizontally at sides have gradually diminishing feather pattern towards island. Island is outlined in black with one black line diverging into two. Profile serpent has a curvilinear body, a head facing to the side on the left, two ears side by side curving downwards, two lines of short dashes along the upper line of the open mouth, and a curled nose. Wolf has a head turning to face the side on the left, two lines of short dashes along the upper lip, bared teeth, four s curves and a four pointed star on the body, paws on the fore and hind legs curving backwards, and an inverted u shaped tail. Whale has a triangular blowhole, a small dorsal fin, an open mouth, a pectoral fin at the left of the eye ovoid has a cross and a grouping of three horizontal lines, and tail flukes having eyes within a series of three ovoids. Pencil inscription along the bottom edge reads '429/500 The Life of Meares Island J. David '85'. The print is on a horizontally rectangular, white paper piece.
Black profile frog faces side on right; thick line forms top of head, jaw and lower lip band; large eye area has ovoid pupil with inverted t-shape, thick line outlines eye; bulbous nose with elongated interior ovoid; circle at jaw; open mouth, tongue has downward pointed tip and split u form on lower portion at back; one line forms upper body and foreleg, another line forms back, hips and hind leg; feet have two bent claws and interior ovoids; claws on forepaw point up and to side on right while the claws on the hind paw point down and to side on left; interior body designs composed of diamonds, ovoids and u forms. In a vertical line below hind paw an inscription reads:" N. Tait '76 Feb 266/279."

Lid has cedar bark lip, and imbricated design of crosses, in red cherry bark with black centers, alternating with reverse colour configuration.

Slightly rounded white forehead has a black and yellow horizontal curvilinear design, red ovoid at centre of yellow; raised thick curved black brows; thin yellow line joins orbital areas at dip between forehead and large protruding bulbous snout; yellow round hollow protruding eyes with black and white bands around pupil; snout has black triangular shape at top and bottom joined by a narrow band, black outline; cluster of five holes, top hole on right has remains of 'stinger'; white, yellow and red crescentic designs around circular white hollow nostrils; white temple; defining line for cheeks melds with orbital ridge; curvilinear black line on cheek; square-like white line defines black split U on either side of mouth area; white and yellow bands around small pointed protruding red lip band, painted design converges at lower lip point; yellow triangle on upturned chin is outlined in white. Cut cedar bark, tied with white cord, folded around a folded orange-pink cloth and nailed to upper rim; white cord and red cloth are twined into the cedar bark lengths; at side on right folded white cloth, stitched with yellow thread, is nailed at temples; brown cord twined into first 7cm. of bark. On reverse, one brown cord passes through two holes in upper rim, looped and knotted through hole at each temple; second cord is looped and knotted through chin.
Wild man or Bukwus mask with three shades of green paint on a skeletal face, with red, white and black used to emphasize facial features. Red horsehair has been stapled to top rim and centre of dome-like forehead; on either side of forehead natural wood horn-like projections have been pegged and glued, projection on left is loose; black brows, outlined in white, graduate in size from bridge of nose to side orbital ridge; curvilinear design from brows to side rim; sunken eye areas with hollow eyes; hooked nose with hollow flaring nostrils; bulbous protrusion on each cheek; wide gaping mouth exposes buck-teeth of natural wood; black and white form line design extends from nostrils around mouth to chin; white line divides cheek and chin from jaw. On reverse, four leather strips pass through holes drilled at sides and top and artist signature. Small sliver of wood lifted from front at side on right; peg for horn-like protrusion on left visible on reverse.
Oval face with prominent brows and deeply carved eyes with horizontal channels. There is a triangular nose in higher relief than the cheeks and a curved downturned incised mouth with round holes at each side. Darker shades of brown and patchy across face.
Oval face having prominent brows with crease between. Steeply indented to horizontal lines at eyes. Eyes are close together with inlaid wooden plugs. A triangular nose starts between eyes with the cheeks and mouth area also in high relief. Mouth is indicated by incised teeth rows. Relatively flat back.
