Silver spoon with shallow, ovular bowl and slightly downward curving handle. Octopus design carved on front towards handle. Fine crosshatching in the negative space. Artist inscription and date on back.
Hand-carved silver cufflinks, oval shaped. Silver abstract (trouthead) design with blackened background. Inscription on one cufflink reads "HAIDA ART"; the other has "Reid."
Small carved argillite model pole. Figures from base to top: an eagle sitting on a whale, holding onto the dorsal fin; a frog and a man, with the man holding the frog tongue with both hands; a frog and an eagle on the top. Artist inscription on base.
Small carved argillite model pole consisting of two figures: a sitting bear on the bottom with a perched eagle above. The pole has a smooth, flat back and stands on a flat base. The base is rounded off on the front corners. Artist inscription on back.
Single moccasin, made of moose hide, with glass beadwork. Toe panel has a beaded flower in bright blue, with green vines and bulbs in gold and red. Panel is edged with red beads. Pull tab attached at top of heel. Unlined.
Leister type spear made of wood, bone, sinew, steel. Handle is a long, straight, squared rod of wood with a flat butt. At top a thick wrapping of rawhide with hair connects handle to spear head. Head is made of two curving outer arms of horn, thick at top where each holds a metal spike over a central piece of bone barbed at its end.
Pair of beaded calf-height moccasins. Upper portion is made of thin leather, open at front, and can be wrapped around the calf and tied by long leather strings threaded around the ankle, emerging to either side of a narrow tongue. Yellow flowers with blue stems and green leaves are beaded around the calf, with a line of blue and red or yellow beads surrounding three edges of the calf flap. Toe comes to a point, and is heavily beaded in a wedge pattern of squares in white, blue, red, and yellow. An ink pattern guide can be seen around the toe stitching on both shoes. Both have hard leather soles.
Pair of replacement soles for moccasins. Soles are made of hardened hide, wide at toe, narrowing toward heel.
Pair of beaded moccasins. Shoes are made of soft, pliable hide with a stiff sole sewn on bottom. Ankles are high, folded over and sewn into a double layer, and a short tongue emerges at front and rests on foot. These are edged with yellow and red beads. Toe of shoe is rounded and heavily beaded in a large half circle of yellow and red, outlined in dark blue, with translucent beads. The pattern is mimicked on the top side of the tongue.
Birchbark basket (part a) with decorated lid (part b). Basket is round with straight sides, base and rim separate pieces of bark that have been stitched on with root ties. A scalloped bark ring has been similarly stitched on, beneath the root-wrapped lip. Lid construction is similar to basket, with a strip of birch for rim and a top piece stitched on with root. Lid design is a flower pattern in an ‘x’ shape made from dyed root. Underside of lid has a birch lining, covering the bottom root stitches.
