Beaded Panel3203/3

Beaded panel, likely sewn to a shirt at one time. Triangular textile is red velvet with black edging. Glass beading is symmetrical, showing a large, single stem of stylized flowers and foliage in green, pink, blue and other colours. Light, inked pattern lines can be seen around some of the beading. Backing panel is unbleached cotton canvas.

Dog Blanket3203/2

Small dog blanket. Textile is rectangular, made of red felt embroidered with patterns of branches and leaves in light colours. A short fringe of green and blue edges the entire garment. Backing is made of thick wool fabric, with four leather panels holding thongs to attach blanket to the wearer.

Model Totem Pole3216/1 a-b

Small carved model pole. Partly painted. Figures are: thunderbird at top, with an animal face painted on its body, standing on a crouching bear (lower feet not shown). Pole is nailed onto the base from below with one nail. The wings are one separate piece of wood (part b) nailed onto the pole at the back with a single nail. The back is unpainted and has a stamp with the following: "Made in Canada by Ellen Neel & the Totem Carvers - Kwakiutl Indians".

Headdress3214/1

Woven headdress with fibre optic lighting. Band is made of wool, with red and black diagonal designs on an off-white background. Two cords of fibre optic lights are incorporated above both the red and black sections and connect to a battery power source at the back of the headdress. Brown fur lines the top of the piece, and the interior is covered in dark grey felt.

Duffel cape. Wool garment with a small round neck, open at front with tassel closure, and a rounded hem edged with fur. Wool is a light blue, with a yellow, brown and purple embroidered flower decoration around the hem. The lining is a shiny light brown fabric.

Walking Stick3260/54

Walking stick (or cane). Carved and painted hardwood. Figures have been carved all the way from the tip of the handle to close to the base, with a small plain area just above the foot. The handle itself is carved into a beaver with fins, just below that is a human-like figure with fins or wings, wearing a hat with three potlatch rings, a whale tail is carved at his base. Next is a whale with four human faces in its blowholes, then a bear, then two small whales.
