Cantonese Opera costume boots. The body of each boot is made of yellow silk on the outside, with the outline of a tiger’s body embroidered on the front in black, tail to the top, shoulders at the ankles. Tiger stripes decorate the foot of the boot. On the toe is the tiger’s head, embroidered in metallic thread on a separate and attached piece of material. The ears, nose and tongue are attached pieces of red material, long pointed canine teeth are white, and the eyes protrude and are white and black. The inside of the boot is lined with unbleached cotton and two cotton strings are attached at the inner boot top for tightening. The sole of the boots are made of a thick piece of wood, painted white, angling sharply from ball of the foot up toward the tip of the toe.
Cantonese opera costume hood. The hood is long and deep, rectangular in shape with a rounded bottom corner. The exterior is completely covered in sequins; a green base with silver and light green leaf and foliage pattern, accented with transparent bead tubes. White satin lines the interior, with a short white fur edging around the whole. The inner top of the hood holds a strip of sequins from which a total of four green satin ribbon ties with sequins and fur ends hang. The hood goes with a cape, 2967/28.
Cantonese opera costume cape. Garment is long, with a high back slit and an encircling collar at top. The exterior of the garment and collar are entirely covered in sequins; a green base with silver and light green leaf and foliage pattern, accented with transparent bead tubes. Ivory satin lines the interior, with a short white fur edging around the boarder of cape, back slit, and collar. Two short green satin ribbon ties with sequins hang from the collar. (The cape can be worn with a hood, 2967/29.)
Man’s opera costume robe. Robe is long with full sleeves, and short sleeve extensions in light tan at each cuff. The left front of the robe extends over the right and ties under the arm on the right seam. The yellow body of the robe is covered in triangular and pointed forms made of gold and silver sequins. The neck, each cuff and the bottom and side edging are elaborately decorated in brown and silver sequins in patterns of flowers and leaves. The interior of the robe is a light tan cotton.
Heavily sequined skirt panels. Skirt is made up of two oblong panels trimmed with white fur, one panel crossing in front of the other, attached to a narrow cotton waist band with side ties. The panels are completely covered with a dense floral pattern of red, dark pink and light pink sequins and translucent cylindrical beads. The back is a shiny white fabric, undecorated. The bottom of each panel holds several long red tassels. A square stamp in blue ink with Chinese characters sits on the back lining.
Coral coloured blouse. A blouse of pale orange synthetic fabric lined with white synthetic fabric with long, wide sleeves that are trimmed with light and dark pink sequins sewn in a zig zag pattern around the sleeve openings. The blouse fastens with six metal snaps sewn down the back, and there is a square stamp in blue ink with Chinese characters on the inside lining.
Sequined skirt panel. The narrow panel has a dense floral pattern made of red, dark pink and light pink sequins and translucent cylindrical beads. The back is lined with a shiny synthetic fabric in orange. Eighteen long, light pink tassels hang from the sides and bottom of the panel and the edges are trimmed with white fur. A narrow waistband of white cotton is attached along the top and has a long tie on each end. There is a square stamp in blue ink with Chinese characters on the back lining.
Opera costume belt. Long rectangular belt with striped pattern of dark pink and light pink sequins and cylindrical clear plastic beads, trimmed with white fur on the long edges. The reverse side is a lining of white cotton with a square stamp with Chinese characters in faded black ink. There are five blue pen lines on lining close to the stamp.
Light coral coloured crepe semi-circular panel skirt. Skirt is lined with white synthetic fabric made up of one narrow rounded rectangular panel and one wide semi-circular panel consisting of three layers of fabric, also lined. The narrow panel and all three layers of the larger panel have light and dark pink sequins sewn close to the outside edges, which are trimmed with white fur. The middle and top layers of the larger panel are smaller and more rounded than the bottom layer, with light pink, dark pink and red sequin flowers over its surface. There are light pink tassels hanging from the rounded bottom edge of the top layer of the panel. The panels are sewn together at one side and both have a narrow white cotton waistband with ties at each end. On the lining of the large panel, below the waistband, there is a square stamp in blue ink with Chinese characters.
Woman's opera costume shirt with epaulets. The garment is heavily sequined front and back in shades of green, red and pink, emphasized with small transparent cylindrical beads. In the sequined pattern can be seen a dragon with scales, holding a ball. Panels are edged in white fur. The interior of the shirt is made of unbleached cotton, with the exterior under the sequins a yellow green synthetic fabric, slightly shiny. The shirt is open at sides and under the arms, and closes with nine metal snaps at the front.
