Plate StandN1.359 b

Black coloured stand with scalloped rod on back with two narrow curved feet. Perpendicular to the back rod, there is a shorter scalloped rod that attaches to the decorative front piece of the stand. It has a wide U-shaped curved top and has scrolled feet that curve inwards at the bottom. Stand is for plate (N1.359 a).

Cantonese Opera HatN1.674 b

The folded hat is blue and rectangular, decorated with appliqué and metal-mirrored discs. The hat flares at the top, narrows at the base and folds inwards on both sides. On the front is a large white circle with a bird in the centre in blue, green, black yellow and pink thread. Surrounding the circle are tuffs of white rabbit fur. Around the circle are lotus motifs in silver thread. On the folded sides the bird and lotus motifs are repeated. On the back are lotus motifs in silver and pink thread. Along the bottom of the hat is a silver border with brass discs, edged with purple with traces of gold. Covering the entire surface of the hat are metal discs with mirrored centres. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

Orange, brown-white, blue-green coloured 100 Yuan bank note issued by the Central Bank of China in 1949. On one side of the bill, there is a portrait of a man with a dark moustache and high collared shirt next to central Chinese characters surrounded in blue and green coloured graphic details. The bill is framed with orange coloured graphic designs and Chinese characters in each corner. On the other side of the bill, there is a picture of a building with a flag next to a graphic design that says "One hundred Yuan." The bill is framed with orange coloured graphic designs and has the label "100" in each corner.

Black baby carrier (part a) with applique. The carrier is rectangular with a small opening on one side. In the centre is a square with floral, vase and butterfly motifs on red ground, with surrounding pink square and green floral borders. Around the squares are floral, vase and butterfly motifs on black ground. The back is lined with black fabric.

An inverted pyramidal-shaped hat that has bird, flower, and butterfly motifs, appliqued in pink, yellow, mauve, green, and grey on a white background edged with white fur all on a black background. Stiffened, and glued. Decorated with circular tin reflectors, and mirrors. There are two plain ties at opposite corners.

Purple damask silk hanging with embroidery and tassels. The rectangular hanging has an upper flap that is folded over onto the main panel. The flap has narcissus (flower of the new year), peony (flower of spring), crane (symbol of longevity), Shou Shin (god of longevity), (god of happiness), (god of prosperity), and deer (symbol of longevity) motifs. Around the edges of the flap is a cream border with floral motifs and purple trim. The main panel has peony, phoenix (symbol of peace and serenity), unicorn or chi lin, tiger and dragon motifs. Around the edges is a turquoise border with floral motifs and dark blue trim. Along the bottom are multicoloured netting with bronze discs and tassels. The back is lined with pink cotton.

Pair of shoes. Each shoe is red, bordered along the top with light blue. The design on each side is consisting of a beige butterfly that has black designs and pink flowers on a green stem. The toe angles to a linear vertically rounded point along the middle, creating two sides to the shoe. There is a base for the shoe; the inside is made of white-beige cotton(?).

Round coin with a four-sided hole in the centre, and a rim around the outer edge and the centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse has two characters. Kangxi tongbao (top-bottom right left) in Chinese characters are on the obverse; boo yuwan left, right (mintmark), in Manchu are on the reverse. Raised fields; crescent between two dots on the reverse top; reverse very worn.
