Fused BoxIa300

Two circular kiln-attached celadon boxes with lids missing. The outer box has an exterior moulded with a series of vertical grooves, a glazed underside and unglazed foot ring. The exterior of the inner box is smooth and the interior is swirled with a brown glaze. Both boxes have ledge-like lips on which lids can sit. The glaze is thick and glossy. Where the glaze ends, at the lips of both boxes and the foot ring, it is reddish-brown. Where chipped, a grey porcelaneous body is exposed. A set of inked letter and numbers is written on the underside.

Robe1178/1

Purple damask robe with rounded neck, wide sleeves, side slits and side opening with gold frog closures. On the front, back and sleeves are large woven roundels with a lotus motif. The sleeve, collar and border bands have lotus, peony, vase and leaf motifs in blue, white and gold on a black ground. The bands are edged with solid blue and floral trim. The inside is unlined.
