Belt3486/130

Wide woven belt (chumpi) finished in braids sewn together on one end. Diamonds in vibrant pink and shades of red form the main design, accented with a contrasting green, orange, yellow, and dark blue ‘x’ and ‘o’ pattern repeating across the horizontal centre. The ‘x’ and ‘o’ motif also appears along the top and bottom borders in white, pink, green, and yellow, with solid dark blue edging. A strand of pink yarn is attached to both ends as ties.

Thin woven band (jakima) finished on one end in two braids sewn together to form a loop. Alternating red and forest green triangles with yellow dots in a puntas (points) motif repeat across the band, contained in a dark blue border along the top and bottom edges.

Woman’s shoulder shawl (lliklla) made of two separate panels; each panel has four selvedges and a break in the pattern near one end. Designs are mainly crosses, hooks, chevrons, and diagonal lines. Narrow bands with blue, white and red squares flank the widest pattern band. A group of seven pattern bands repeats on both sides of the centre seam and parallel to the outside edges.

Woven bag (costal) formed from one long panel that was folded in half and hand-sewn together on the long edges. Coloured vertical bands in natural shades of brown decorate the bag, mirrored at the centre. The central band is a medium brown, followed by a darker band, a light beige band, another medium brown band, and a greyish-brown band, each separated by contrasting narrow bands in light beige.

Woven fiesta scarf (chalina) with long fringes. The design has three patterned bands with hooked designs in white, alternating with solid brown bands. The central patterned band has a dark red background, flanked by thin stripes in navy blue, yellow, blueish-green, red, and white. The other patterned bands both have a pale red background, flanked by thin stripes in navy blue, mauve, orange, blueish-green, red and white. Similar stripes appear near the border of the top and bottom edges of the panel in red, white, mauve, blueish-green, and orange. A border with repeating diamond motifs in red, white, green, navy blue, and yellow is hand-sewn to left and right edges of the central woven panel, connecting it to the long red fringes.
