Robe3249/2

Robe made up of many horizontal strips of cloth sewn together into a single piece of fabric. This is folded and sewn to create a tube-like garment. Weave is tight, fabric is thick, with a blue and white checker pattern overall, decorated with flower motifs at the edges. At middle is an area of high patterning, showing diamond shapes and wavy lines set in strips. At each end of the robe is an attached set of twisted tassels.

Textile3249/1

Large textile has a dark blue base with thin white lines running horizontally. Several thicker diagonal lines made of small red and yellow stitched squares cross to make large ‘x’ shapes across the textile. Heavy silk embroidery sits at each end, showing a variety of patterns in evenly spaced blocks: long vertical lines, short horizontal lines, and lines made up of small stitches, all in yellow, red and green.

Fertility Figure3192/2

Fertility figure (akuaba) in male form. Head is large and round, flat in profile, with a large undecorated forehead above a small face at bottom. Eyes are wide, closed, nose is small and straight, and mouth is simply carved. Curved gouges decorate the cheeks. Below a long neck, stubby arms emerge from both sides of the torso, above a long, slightly curved body and flared base. Back of figure is undecorated.

Fertility figure (akuaba) in female form. Head is large and round, flat in profile, with cross-hatched hair at top, a slightly protruding forehead, and a small face. Eyes are wide, closed, and nose is small and straight. Decorative gouges decorate the cheeks. Below a long thin neck are small breasts emerging from the torso between stubby arms held to the sides. Stomach is covered with cross-hatched grooves. Legs narrow toward bottom, where they meet the small rectangular base. Back of figure is undecorated.

Bronze earring or small bracelet. Object is a thin hoop made of three strands of metal twisted tightly together, one copper, one bronze, and the third a dark grey iron. They are curled up at the ends to hold the twist in place. Ends are unjoined.
