Funeral Textile2590/1

Large contemporary, commemorative textile with repeating pattern in the background of alternating Adinkra symbols. Along the top and bottom edge there is a band of repeating Adinkra symbols. The middle has a row of circular images depicting a seated man encircled by text. Above and below this row, there is a row of circular images of weapons, alternating with circular images of a porcupine on a stool. There is text within these circles. There is a label in the lower left corner from the manufacturer.

Shirt1774/2

Resist-dyed indigo short-sleeved shirt with embroidered neck hole and belly pocket with two embroidered access slits. The sleeves are square with bottom bells to the sides. The pattern consists of clearly defined white vertical stripes, light blue to white stripes with fuzzy edges and thin wavering blue-white lines.

Adinkra Cloth1774/1

Adinkra (stamped design) cloth composed of seven strips of white cloth joined lengthwise with bands of kente weaving. Afe (comb lines) and kente divide the cloth into fifty-six squares; squares are decorated with gourd stamp patterns, as well as hatching and cross-hatching; designs done in dark brown. In between two sets of afe are ahoma/nnonoma - "double dono drums" symbols. There are two large light-blue textile company stamps on the reverse.

Eight rectangular textile pieces (parts a-h) varying in size. Parts a-c have a fine threaded fringe on two ends; part d has a fringe on one end. Part h has been folded and sewn together with a slight opening. Parts a-c are decorated with square patterns. Part f has a striped pattern in green, black, red and yellow. Parts d, e, g and h are detailed with stripes, checks, diamonds, triangles and zigzags. The textiles are yellow, cream, brown, light brown, black, blue, green and dark red.
