Pot3060/24

Terracotta pot made up of fragments glued back together. Pot is round with a curved base. Body is wide at the midpoint, narrowing toward the neck and flaring outward at the rim. Midpoint is decorated with a black encircling line, above which is painted sets of two small black motifs interspersed by rectangles of horizontal black, white and orange lines. The outer rim is painted with narrow vertical lines of white and black over an orange base, and the inner with large triangles alternating with groups of vertical black, white and orange lines. The pot has several gaps/missing pieces.

Small terracotta pot. Round vessel has a slightly rounded bottom, a wide hip that inclines to the neck, and a widely flared rim. Body of pot is decorated with a dense diamond shape motif at centre in colours of rust, tan and dark brown, surrounded on top and bottom by encircling lines of a brown key motif over a tan base colour. Rim is decorated in checks. Bottom of pot is undecorated. Interior has an encircling line at neck, but is otherwise undecorated.

Ceramic figure pot. Vessel is tall and rounded, deeper than it is wide, with a flat base and wide mouth. A human face has been created on the neck, with protruding nose and ears, bulging eyes, and pointed chin. Eyes and nose have been enhanced by black paint. On the rim of the pot is painted a headdress, which falls down the back onto the figure’s shoulders. An arm reaches from chest to cheek, and serves as a handle. The waist of the pot is grooved and painted tan, with bent legs below.

Ceramic face jar. Vessel is tall and rounded with a curved base and wide mouth. A human face has been created at bottom, with protruding nose and ears and slightly protruding, rounded chin. Closed eyes, brows, mouth, moustache, beard, cheek area and wavy hair have been painted on a light grey face. To the lower rear the pot is dark brown. The shoulder and neck of the pot are painted tan at back and decorated at front with diagonal lines in orange, grey and dark red with stylized feathers at top. Exterior is covered in a shiny glaze. Two small holes are bored into the bottom proper right.

Small burnished clay disk with a slightly rounded bottom. Dish is round and shallow, and may have been used as a cap for a skull. Interior is painted a dark brown, as is the outside rim, with exterior body and base a light brown with areas of red-brown. No further decoration.

Small stirrup spout jar. Vessel is round with curved bottom, slightly taller than wide. Top is enclosed and has two spouts emerging, connected by a small curved bridge at their midpoints. Spouts, bridge, and base of pot are dark brown; a centre band of red brown is painted with two long necked, tan coloured, standing birds covered in brown spots with extended tail and raised wings.

Small stirrup spout jar. Vessel is a rounded cube with curved bottom. Top is enclosed and has a stirrup shaped handle consisting of a narrow spout at back, human-like head at front, and wide, curved bridge connecting the two. The head has a painted face with protruding nose and brown hair with a grey headband. The body is covered in a painted cloak, intricately decorated at back with a sea creature motif, and at sides with black and white checks. The front is a tan square edged with tan, orange and grey motifs. A pendant is painted at top centre.

Terracotta dish. Round high sided dish has a deep, rounded base and flares widely at rim. The outside is burnished and painted a light tan at bottom. At midpoint is an encircling motif of faces with large, wide eyes, a small mouth and a straight lock of hair to each side of the face. Above, the pot has two colour blocks of dark orange interspersed with two blocks of tan containing a decorative linear motif in dark brown and orange. The interior is undecorated.

Large round, burnished dish; broken and repaired. From a small rounded base, the dish flares up and widely outward into a broad rim. Interior of rim is painted dark orange with a repeating set of tan, white and grey lines that surround two panels of dots and curving lines. The outer rim is painted orange while the interior base and lower portion of the exterior are undecorated. The dish had been in pieces, then glued back together.

Large terracotta vessel, broken and repaired. Pot is conical in shape, with a pointed base that widens dramatically to a bulbous shoulder. The small neck perches on the top of the pot, and has an outwardly flaring rim. Above the midpoint the pot is painted with two encircling lines of running birds (?) in black, white and dark brown, with an arrow shaped motif below them. The area around the neck is painted in repeating patterns of linear designs and triangles. Neck and rim have black decoration. The pot had been smashed and glued back together, with several small missing pieces.
