The piece is woven in two identical, long, narrow halves which are joined in the centre, using a decorative embroidery stitch. The two ends of the textile are identical, mirror-images. The textile is reversible; the patterns on the two sides are similar but not identical.

The main body of the piece is made of black cotton textile (pieced at the time) which is bordered on the right-hand side with a narrow multicoloured vertical stripe. Several ‘rosettes’ made of cowry shells are scattered across the width of the garment. The lower third of the garment consists of a finely-woven, horizontally striped, multicoloured textile, with many woven geometric motifs. Many long (38cm) strands of dark red glass and metallic cylindrical beads, interspersed with white seeds, are attached just above this textile and hang freely to the bottom of the garment. Each strand of beads is finished with a tuft of wool, resembling a small tassel.

A horizontal row of closely-spaced small clam shells is affixed to the apron just above this patterned textile and extends almost all the way across the width of the garment. Many long strands of dark red glass and metallic cylindrical beads, interspersed with white seeds, are attached below this row of shells and hang freely to the bottom of the garment. Each strand of beads is finished with a tuft of wool, resembling a small tassel.

Rectangular, embroidered, and appliquéd textile panel, decorated with square mirrors. Panel edged with closely-spaced cowrie shells on three sides; the top edge has three black fibre ties, evenly space along the edge. Bottom edge has three ‘tassels’ made of clusters of cowrie shells and metal beads (cylindrical and bell-shaped). Six large square mirrors and several small square mirrors, worked on a bright pink and orange background, and in the centre of the panel, are surrounded by a border of small square mirrors. The panel is lined with red and tan resist-dyed textile.

Plain wooden spindle with a thin, unadorned wooden whorl near the top; white thread-like fibre is wound around the shaft beneath the spindle.

Very long, narrow, black and grey textile, decorated with many horizontal rows of resist-dyed or painted red disks that are overprinted or stamped with black cross-shaped motifs, like petals of a flower. Sections woven with wool or goat hair yarns alternate with sections woven with cotton yarns. Long black fringes at each end are made by tightly twisting the warp yarns.
