Octagonal box on four circular feet; hinged lid with handle on top and movable clasp attached at front; clasp protrudes from front of base. Top of lid and sides of base are decorated with a perforated quatrefoil design. Punched dots incised on box bottom 'India 3939'. Small label on lid marked '3-43' in ink. Red worn fabric glued to inside box bottom.

Purse in the shape of a fish. Repeated pattern both sides consisting of wire mesh in centre bordered by circular and scalloped wire design. Rings of wire make up the eyes and gills. Hinged opening with a wooden pin on underside of belly. Loops by fin, mouth and on closure flap may once have supported pendant ornaments. Brown residue on sides.
