Wooden painted mask of the character Garuda. Dark green bird-like face with bulging eyes, pointed beak and four fang-like teeth. Light blue and black scalloped headdress on top of mask. Central scallop is red and has three triangular protrusions in front of it, overtop of a semi-circle. Curved triangles, painted red, along top of headdress, in front of the scallops. Curvilinear and stylized linear motifs painted across all of headdress in white and dark green. Red horn-like shapes painted on either side of headdress. Beak mouth is wide open, with tongue sticking out. Mouth is painted red, with small pointed teeth along the top and bottom edges. Two fang-like teeth on either side of mouth. Outer rim of mouth painted black with white lines throughout. Similar designs along sides of the mask. Eyes are painted yellow, orange and red, and are rimmed in red. Outer ears are painted dark green, inner ears painted pink and trimmed in red. Garuda is wearing red triangular earrings, with linear and circular designs painted in white on them. Both ears are attached to the mask with plant fibre ties. Mask has holes for eyes and mouth. Piece of skin(?) nailed to top of mask, on back, with a hole in it, for hanging. Ink inscription inside of mask.

Long, thin woven textile that is heavily embroidered on one side. Both short edges have twisted fringe. At centre, a wide band of red embroidered with beige X designs is flanked by two smaller bands of dark blue. On either side, are dark blue-grey panels each with a row of large embroidered cat-like and double X motifs. Along both sides is a smaller dark grey central panel with repeating embroidered X pattern, with even smaller dark grey panels of embroidered beige zigzags with dots within the spaces. These three small panels are divided by thin bands of solid red flanked by bands of solid dark blue.

Wooden painted mask of the queen character. Humanoid face with narrow eyes, a wide nose and rounded cheeks. Mask is wearing a gold crown, with curvilinear motifs carved into it. Hair is painted black and done in two stylized ponytails that curve down and extend outward from the face. Mouth is closed and painted dark red, rimmed in black. Face is painted beige with slim black eyebrows. Eyes are grey, rimmed in black and red. Mask has holes for eyes and nose. Holes drilled into either side of mask with rubber band attached for hanging. Ink inscription inside of mask.

Wooden painted mask of the character Rangda. Humanoid, demon-like face with bulging eyes, a protruding nose and four tusk-like teeth. Light blue and gold scalloped headdress on top of mask. Central scallop is red and has three triangular protrusions with a teardrop-shaped projection in the centre. Swirls carved in relief next to the teardrop. Curved triangles along top of headdress, in front of the scallops. Red horn-like shapes on either side of the headdress. Stylized geometric and circular motifs painted across all of headdress in white, black and gold. Black triangular protrusions along sides of face with white linear motifs painted overtop. Mouth is open wide and has large white teeth along the top and bottom edges, in the centre. Mouth painted dark red, gums are pink. Face is painted white and has black textured lines around the cheeks, chin and down the bridge of the nose. Eyes are painted orange and yellow, and rimmed in red. Mask has holes for eyes, nose and mouth. Eye hook on back of headdress, with white knotted string attached. Piece of skin(?), with a hole in one end, nailed above eye hook. Ink inscription inside of mask.

Wooden painted mask. Dark grey elephant face with bulging eyes, a curved trunk, large ears and two tusks. Red-orange and black scalloped headdress on top of mask, with smaller curved triangles in front of scallops. Three triangular protrusions in front of central scallop with circular protrusion below them. Linear and circular designs curved into circle. All protrusions are painted gold. Curved triangles also painted gold. Scallops have linear and swirl motifs painted across them in black, silver and gold. Gold horn-like shapes on either side of the headdress. Elephant’s brows painted black with golden dots. Triangular protrusions along sides of face with gold lines throughout. Elephant trunk hangs over wide open mouth and is framed on either side by tusks. Horizontal lines painted in intervals along trunk, done in black, maroon and gold. Area around mouth painted dark red, with white teeth along top edge. Gums are pink-orange. Outer rim of mouth painted black with silver lines throughout. Eyes are painted orange and red, and rimmed in red. Ears are painted orange-pink, with black, red-orange and gold lines throughout to highlight the inner ear. Elephant is wearing triangular golden earrings, with linear and circular designs carved into them. Mask has holes for eyes, nose and mouth. Both ears are attached to mask with nails. Piece of skin(?), with hole through one end, nailed to back of mask. Ink inscription inside of mask.

Dark green and red scalloped headdress on top of mask with a tiered cylinder in the centre. Three triangles around middle tier and a teardrop-shaped protrusion on the front of the cylinder. Teardrop flanked on either side with swirl designs. Smaller curved triangles along top of headdress, in front of scallops. Red horn-like shapes on either side of headdress. Stylized linear and geometric motifs painted across all of headdress in white, black and gold. Black triangular protrusions along sides of face with white linear motifs painted overtop. Mouth is open wide and has large white teeth along the top and bottom edges, in the centre. Mouth painted dark red. Face is painted white and has black highlights around the cheeks, mouth, chin, nostrils and ears. Eyes are painted yellow-orange and rimmed in red. Outer ear painted white, inner ear painted red and is trimmed in orange. Mask has holes for eyes, nose and mouth. Both ears attached to mask with nails. White knotted string attached to top of headdress, on back.

Wooden plaque-like mask. Flat, demon-like face, with wide eyes, wide nose and four small tusk-like teeth, in centre of plaque. Face is wearing a dark gold, scalloped headdress, forming the top edge of the plaque. Central semi-circle on headdress with carved details, painted in red and black. Bottom edge of headdress bordered with black and red bands. Linear and geometric motifs carved throughout. Black and gold horns painted on either side of headdress. Mouth is open and has white teeth along the top edge. Stylized flames(?), painted red, gold and black, extend from both sides of the mouth. Flames(?) form the left and right sides of the plaque. Mouth and tongue are painted dark red, gums are pink. Area around mouth painted black with gold stripes throughout. Face is painted white, with black highlights around the cheeks and chin. Eyes are painted orange and yellow, rimmed in red. Brows protruding over eyes painted black. Mask has hole for mouth. Entire back is painted red.

Small rectangular woven textile with tassels along both short ends. The embroidered patterns are mirrored on either side of the textile, with an open dark brown-red section at centre. The patterns run horizontally across the textile in bands of repeating geometric patterns - zigzags, chevron, triangles and others.

Bag3383/11

Woven bilum (bag) covered with layered rows of brown feathers on one side. Extending from the tightly woven band at the top is a short handle. The bag alternates between rows of dark brown and dark reddish-brown. On one side of the bag, dark brown feathers with light grey tips, are attached by looping the feather's shaft through the bag, and securing it by bending it back through a split in the shaft.
