Offering BasketIb448

Rounded, circular flaring, fibre woven container that has a bowl shape. Exterior has intricate white beadwork on cloth backing in geometric horizontal, concentric bands. Lower beadwork is 7.7 cm. deep. with 'extending' beads above, and a pattern of x's, vertical lines, x's with red fabric underneath, x's, x's with green underneath, ,and vertical lines at the centre. Upper beadwork is 2.5 cm. with a pattern of alternating red, green, and gold-coloured sequins outlined by white beads around the sides and the top, x's, and 'dangling' beads below.

Metal kris with a curved, damascene blade (part a). Upper portions near the hilt are carved. The hilt is dark yellow ivory carved in the form of a demon with his right arm grasping a dagger behind the head and his left hand at his side holding up a thumb and two fingers. His right leg is turned around backwards and his left leg is straight. Figure is sitting on a carved stool. The blade is fixed into the hilt by a gilded ornamental ring containing five glass stones: two red, two blue, and one clear. One side of the wood sheath (parts b-c) has natural dark blotches while the other side is plain.

Carved wood figure of a human standing on a human head. While both heads have a long, flat, outward pointing nose, round red eyes, ears, and an open red mouth with a tongue in the middle, the top head has a downward pointing hair line and the bottom head has a straight horizontal hair line. The main body has a long cylindrical torso with curving arms holding something long along the middle of the chest. There is a metal hanger around the upper neck. Designs on the upper body include vertical rows of red triangles while designs on the lower body include vertical rows of red ovals. Colours are red and white on natural brown.

Dart quiver and eight darts: a) quiver made from one piece of leaf that has been folded over and the sides sewn with plant fibre to create a long narrow envelope type container; b-d) three darts composed of long, thin sticks with pointed ends and a slightly conical piece of wood near the butt end of each; e-g) three darts composed of long, thin sticks with pointed ends; h-i) two darts composed of a long, thin stick with pointed ends and coated with a black, pithy material, and part i has part of another dart tip stuck to it with this material.

Spouted wood piece stained red-brown with an elaborately carved handle, stained red-brown. The upper portion has a cylindrical spout that connects to the handle across a central ridge over the top. The handle is square in cross section, curving upward and backward and upward. Underneath the outer concave curve of the handle, there is a slim carved piece. The lower portion is cylindrical and tapers downward.

Ramayana Headdress1568/6 a-f

Ramayana headdress composed of a green velvet covered crown (a) that has a bulbous base that narrows and then widens again to a smaller bulbous top with a gold finial. The crown is also ornamented with pieces of gold painted skin that have been cut into ornate geometric shapes, some of which protrude outwards, and these have silver sequins and clear glass beads sewn to them. The base of the crown has a band of multiple pointed pieces of gold painted skin ornamented with sequins and beads. Attached at the back of the headdress is a figure's face made from gold, red, black and white painted skin. The figure has a pointed head, fangs, protruding black hair at the base, and is also decorated with sequins and beads. There are black straps on the inside at the back for adjustment, and two yellow straps at the sides. Accompanying the headdress are the following: a triangular-shaped gold painted skin ornament (b) with sequins and beads and two curled ends to which is attached a gold cord; two gold painted skin ornaments (c and d) with curled ends, sequins and beads, as well as two hanging multicoloured tassels on each; and two gold painted skin ornaments (e and f) consisting of an ornate piece with sequins and beads, each attached at a perpendicular angle to a cross-shaped piece with yellow ties at each end.
