Shadow Puppet1374/25

Shadow puppet (wayang kulit) representing the character Bagong. Two dimensional, short man with articulated shoulders and elbows; arms have rods of horn from hands; another long, horn rod has central split and goes up height of puppet on both sides. Man is of a translucent skin with opaque painted decorations of bracelets, skirt, necklace, earrings, and facial features. Decorations are painted on both sides. Skirt is of a black and gold triangle design with red outlines; waist has a row of red and green alternating triangles above a row of green and gold triangles; fringe is in orange, blue, and white.

Musical Instrument1285/1

Stringed musical instrument with boat-shaped body, incised and carved with black and beige geometric leaf-like designs. Two wires are strung across the middle portion of the boat shape between two raised pieces. Braided fibre with wooden pick is attached to one end.

Basketry Material1027/8 b-m

Part b is a round wooden strip bent in a circle with one nail to hold it in place. Nail holes are around the entire perimeter of the circle. Part c and d are dark wood with slots that are connected together by a nail and incised with rectangular cuts on opposite sides of the centre. Part e, f, g and h are flat pieces of lighter wood with bottom corners cut to one side. Part i, j, and k are bamboo rods sliced in half except for one end that is partially flatten to one side. Part l is a bamboo rod sliced in half except for one end that is partially flattened to one side and has three protruding nails down the centre. Part m is a loosely coiled piece of grass(?).

Manuscript1176/22

Long thin panels linked together with a string and two coin-like metal pieces at both ends. The coin-like pieces are inscribed with characters. There are seven flat inner panels with the top one lighter in colour than the rest and the bottom one upside down. One side of each inner panel has a line of writing characters. The other side of each inner panel is decorated with two pictures of dancing figures in costume with a landscape backdrop. In between these two pictures, there is a square with a diagonal floral design. At either ends of each inner panel is a w-shaped floral design separated from the picture by vertical lines. There are two outer panels, more rounded on one side, which has a rhombus pattern around which there is a floral design. The outer panels are red-brown with the design engraved to reveal a lighter brown. The pictures on the inner panels are black on brown.

The knife (part a) is a long metal blade with curvy edges and a long point at the bottom which inserts into the handle (part c) which is made of wood and has two carved spiral designs. There is an embellishing ringlet between the blade and the long point at the bottom. The sheath (part b) is made of wood with the long part having been wrapped around with metal which leaves the middle of one side open. There is also a cross-guard-like piece to the sheath.

Rod Puppet1026/1 a-d

A white puppet with an upper body (part a) and a head carved with a headpiece (part b) attached together by a stick (part c). One marionette stick had broken off with the right hand, now repaired. The shoulders can rotate and the elbows can bend. The waist (part a) and the stick (part c) have "10/SHINtA" written in blue.

Mask954/2

A man's face carved with a crown over the painted black hair. The crown is gold in colour with red dots within gold-coloured embellishments. There are two horizontal curvy brow furrows in the middle of the forehead, and the eyebrows are also painted black. The red eyes have curved slits directly underneath, and the nostrils are cut out. There is a brown moustache made of hair. The red mouth has four shell covered teeth. Attached to the side is a fibre string with some metal pieces.
