Figure has a high rounded crown gold hat with a red trim and silver flowers which is tied with a white cord under the chin. Painted face. Multi-coloured brocade gown with conch shell, umbrella, clouds, and mountain design. Her left hand a holds gold and black carrying stick. Red cord on one end attaches to a brocade bag. Figure is raised by three wooden props: one under the shoulders and two under the head. Handle is covered with green and gold brocade in a tortoise shell pattern. Face of board covered with sille painted with wisteria. Back is painted with a black branch and white berries. Small metal bell under head of figure.

Wooden box (part b) with sliding front (part c). Box has front which slides into grooves at edges. The front has a strip on top which fits to box and a strip across the bottom. There is black calligraphy on front. Display of dolls (part a) on a platform. Four-tiered dais covered with red fabric, and a wooden backdrop covered with gold paper. Top tier has small platform with two seated figures with two small seated figures, and having three larger figures and two lamps surround them. Next tier has five blue robed figures. Next tier has two figures. Bottom tier has three yellow robed figures, a lemon tree, and a red flowered tree.

Cylindrical pencil has a tiny kokeshi doll glued to one end. Doll has round moveable head and a short body. Stylized black top knot; black eyebrows and black eyes; black dot nose; red dot mouth; three red dots at side of head; red jacket with no arms and black lapels; three white dots on each side of body; black under kimono shows at neck; blue and red obi has thin blue cross design; below obi is green leaves and red dot design; lower body flares where attached to pencil.

Female figure of wood with round moveable head and cylindrical body. Stylized black hair with top knot, and red hair decoration. Crescent eyebrows, crescentic eyes, u-shaped nose, and red lips. Kimono has red, white, and green designs. Red obi with gold.

Female doll (part a) in a semi-reclining position. Her left arm rests on a brown and gold brocade stool (part b) with two decoratively carved black lacquered legs. Her right arm is bent and holds a folded black paper fan. Doll's long black hair is pulled up and back from her face, and is tied in three sections with silver paper folded around the first tie. Hair next to her face is cut in two lengths. Silver floral hair ornamentation is on top of her head. Painted face has black eyebrows, upper eye lid outlined in black, black irises with white pupils, a shaped nose, and a closed mouth with red lips. Wearing a red kimono with white flowers having green and yellow centres. Visible at neck is under kimono of silver flowers on white background. Textured white under kimono visible at knee. Silver obi tied with white cord. Red and gold brocaded rectangular cloth wrapped in orange cord with tassels protrudes above obi. Doll is attached to a rectangular black lacquered base .

Square tray with slightly raised lip. Finished in mottled gold and orange-red lacquer on a black background on top; black underside.

Boy doll. His right hand is tucked under his jacket, and his left arm is straight out to his left side with his left hand in a fist. He is facing to his right with his chin up and his open hole pursed mouth accentuating an indignant-like look as his eyebrows angle downward toward the middle. Straight-line painted eyebrows and segmented crescentic eyes with black painted eyeballs. Brown short sleeveless jacket, lined in yellow, and trimmed with grey, and black edging. Light brown short kimono with black geometric design. Stamped with calligraphy. Yellow sandals with black strip. Metal post under right foot.

Large thread ball woven with red-orange, white, yellow, and lined with green in an abstract geometric pattern. Centre has red band with silver pattern. Base, woven dark blue thread. White tassel with gold trimming and three yellow glass beads on two sides. Top has white silk and gold tie for hanging. Bottom, large gold bow with two long tassels, one red and the other white.

Sample (a) is small, orange and shimmering gold, woven, square piece, alternating colours arranged in vertical rows of short diagonals, alternating between pointing to upper right and to upper left. Sample pasted to plain, thick, white mount, information printed on back. All protected by rectangular piece of white covering gauze and folder (b): thick, heavy, roughened, yellow white paper, folded over, flap opening from left, all edges retaining an irregular deckle edge. Brown rectangular strip on front has black printing of paper name in Japanese and English.
