Pear-shaped wooden object with a long dowel-like neck ending in a sphere. Object is cut in half widthwise and, pivoting on a brass bolt fixed through the end of the neck, slides open to reveal a circular brass dish and a long, needle-shaped ivory (?) object held in inner cavities. The needle-shaped ivory (?) object is covered in black dots arranged in a linear pattern.

Oval shaped abalone shell that has a series of evenly spaced holes across the top of the concave surface. Holes are hollowed out barnacle shells. On the convex side, there is a large cluster of barnacle shells attached to the larger abalone shell to one side. The concave side has a pearly appearance while the convex side has a bumpy texture.
