Carved wooden Noh mask of "Magojiro" (part a). Face is white-cream-coloured with black eyes and black hair. The brows are smudged with black. The pupils, nostrils and mouth are cut out. The mouth is red, with black upper teeth. The bag (part b) is dark green with a black and brown floral design. The bag has two ties outlined with green, one on the side and the other on the overlaying flap, to tie together and close the bag. There is also a braided purple string (part c) wrapped around the bag. There is a light brown, rectangular and lidded wood box. The lid has characters written in black on top and characters written in red, inside of a rectangular outline, on the bottom. Attached to the box is a purple ribbon which wraps and ties around the box. The mask fits inside of the bag, which the lays in the box.
Akujo mask. Brown coloured mask with high upraised eyebrows outlined with black diagonal lines and three curvy horizontal lines carved for furrows at the wrinkled brow. The slightly triangular inset eyes bulge out at an angle as the high cheek bone angles to a downward bulge. The open cut out mouth has upper teeth. The moustache and goatee are painted with curved black lines. There is a grouped clump of curly black hair coming down from each upper corner of the mask from a set of holes. The beard is also done in a similar fashion to the hair. The pupils of the eyes and the nostrils are also cut out.
A mask (part a) with a light beige face and hair painted black. The pupils of the eyes are cut out, as are the nostrils, and the open red mouth with black upper teeth. The bag (part b) is greyish-green with a biege and dark green floral pattern. The bag has two brown ties, one on the side and the other on the overlaying flap to tie and close the bag together.
Part a is a square tile-like object with a red underside and a black and red speckled top. Part b is paper decorated with black and red calligraphy and pink lines and is custom cut to wrap around the lid. Four ties are attached to the four sides of the paper and when tied together, secure the paper around the object. When unfolded, the paper is cross-shaped.
White and dark red coloured Japanese paper currency displayed in cream coloured paper scrapbook. Secured on page with black corner tabs and placed under strand of white fibre cording. Denomination is ten yen. Image of a building on left side and number "10" in bold on the right side. "10 YEN" is also printed in bold at the bottom of the image.
Tool made of a rectangular block of wood with a metal blade set into it. Wood is lacquered on all surfaces but the bottom. The sharp edge of the blade rests just below the bottom surface while the blunt end protrudes slightly above top surface. A stamped character is on the visible surface of the blade.
Tool made of a rectangular block of wood with a two piece blade set into it. Wood is lacquered on all surfaces but the bottom and the bottom has a lengthwise groove that takes up almost entire width. The sharp edge of the blade rests just below the surface of the groove while the blunt end protrudes quite far above top surface.
Rectangular block of wood with a t-shaped hole near one end into which is set a flat piece of metal. The metal is set at an angle and has a sharp blade edge that sits just above surface of the block and a domed blunt edge that is above surface of the block. Three characters are engraved into flat surface of the blade.
Knife with light-coloured carved wooden handle (part a) and carved wooden sheath (part b). Both handle and sheath are decorated with oval-shaped sections of cross-hatching that are outlined with scroll designs. Sheath has grey and green coloured fibre wrapped around the opening that is threaded through a wooden loop at the side and connects to a wooden peg-like piece.
Black damask silk haori (羽織) or jacket/overcoat. The neck and centre opening are edged with a wide band. The sleeves are short with hanging panels and an opening under the arms. On the back of the neck and each sleeve is a flower embroidered in light coloured thread. The damask is woven with an abstract horizontal pattern. The inner lining or haura (羽裏) with colourful designs known as gaku’ura (額裏) is cream silk with a floral pattern and covers only the upper part of the kimono. It has three family crests or kamon (家紋) in the shape of diamond-shaped flower motifs known as kage hanabishi (陰花菱).
