Milk Container1393/1

A tall jug with a rounded bottom which tapers upward and has a flared base. The lid has a cylindrical stem which flared outward and downward and has capped overtop. The top of the lid has white, light blue, and orange beads at the centre with circular rows of blue, white and dark blue, and red beads. The sides of the lid are decorated with cowrie shells and horizontal rows of red, and white and dark blue beads. The lid is held in place with a band of skin decorated with cowrie shells. The jug is decorated with vertical rows of cowrie shells on bands of skin. The whole object is woven.

Part a is a carved wood container that is rounded near the bottom and narrows at the top. Small handles protrude from each side. Leather straps are attached with rope and string to the handles. Part b is a cap-shaped lid with a flared knob and a small ridge underneath.

Container905/3 a-b

Part a is a long gourd with one end tapered and the other end rounded. Long skin strap attaches to the rounded end of the gourd, loops around the base of the gourd, and extends half way up to the centre of the gourd. Skin strap has three rows of beads: a row of blue beads on one side, a row of white beads(?) in the centre, and a row of red beads on the other side. Further down on the skin strap are two horizontal rows of red, white, and blue, and green, red, white, blue, and red beads. Separating the two lines is a vertical row of beads with a central beaded design. Beaded design has a brown button in the centre. Rest of skin strap is not attached to the gourd, but extends the length of the gourd. Part b is a small cone-shaped cap to the gourd. It is decorated with a band of green, red, and white beaded sections.

Headrest905/1

Rectangular-shaped piece of wood that curves up slightly at each end. Ends are rounded. Base is made from one piece of wood. Has a horizontally placed beam that extends the length of the rectangular-shaped piece of wood. Stemming from it are two pieces of wood that curve outwards. The pieces are connected in the centre by a round wooden piece. Attached to the upper portion of the legs, is a skin ring. The ring has a piece of metal wire wrapped around it.

Belt1293/2

Coiled light-brown coloured skin belt with beaded embellishments on rim and in centre. Rim has three strands of beaded sections. Beaded sections are in no particular order and consist of blue, white, green, red, and yellow coloured beads. Connected to the beaded rim are half-circle beaded designs that extend to the centre of the belt and are staggered the length of the piece. Each half circle consists of two different coloured beaded sections and near the centre of the belt there is a small metal circle inset into one of the half-circle beaded sections. Two holes in the skin at one end correspond with one long skin cording strap at the other end.

Cloth2597/1

Unsewn rectangular printed textile with narrow black border along the edges. A thicker layered border consisting of stylized black and yellow leaf patterns interspersed with red-speckled whitel triangles forms a frame around the larger pattern. In the centre, there are three horizontal bands of yellow flowers on a mulberry coloured background. The phrase 'KUZAA SI KUFANIKIWA KUZAA NI KUBARIKIWA' appears under the bottom band of flowers. A makers mark appears at two corners.

Bracelet that is beaded on both inside and outside. On one side there are black and red beads in a geometric triangular pattern on a ground of light blue beads. The inside repeating pattern is of two rows of green stripes and one row of white stripes. There is one row of red beads.

Bracelet with six rows of beads on wires, connected at each end and divided at four different places with small, rectangular pieces of red plastic. The light blue, clear light orange-yellow and shiny dark grey-blue beads are arranged in a geometric triangular pattern. At one end there are two small wire loops and at the other there are two wire hooks for attaching the ends together.

Woman's wrapper of patterned cloth sewn into a cylindrical shape. Pattern consists of purple and white stripes and blue and white diamond shapes. There are also three bands of green stripes with purple and white patterning. A black band with white X's lines each edge of the textile.

Black pillbox style hat with green, white and yellow embroidery. Sides have three horizontal bands of diamond and zigzag patterns, separated by yellow edging. Top has similar bands of diamond designs and edging, framing a circular pattern quadrisected by cross-hatching and stylized S-shape designs. Interior of hat has a white lining.
